So my top surgery is in January and I found out it is excluded from insurance. I am having a hard time deciding if I should get lipo of abdomen/flanks. It would be $2k more and I'll have enough money then but I think my biggest concern is justifying it in front of family. I thought of saying I'm also getting my trunk contoured with it but I would think in the room before he would just say lipo. The problem is that the fat is below my belly button and is obviously female. I've tried to exercise it away before and the top half had me stopping. I'm mostly concerned after top surgery no matter what I do it won't go away and that I should just lipo it to jump start the new me.

I don't think that is "obviously female".  I've definitely seen men with fat distribution similar to that.

I would use that 2k to hire a personal trainer. Then you get information and habits that you can use for life. Obviously your choice, and you have an extra 2k and dont mind the risks and discomfort. I know you didnt come in here for a lecture, so I wont give you too much of one, but I would still encourage cardio and calorie restriction over lipo.

Lipo is a quick fix but it's not a permanent fix.  I'd say you'd be far better off to save the 2k and get the top surgery and then just go back to working out if you want rid of that.  Remember that if you're on T, that's where the new fat goes, so it's actually not very feminine to have fat there, it's more manly!  Guys who have T in their system get fat there and those without T get fat more in the hips/butt and perhaps chest.  Women tend to be hour glass or pear shaped while guys are apple shape with regards to fat distribution.

There's also not such thing as targeted fat loss so you just have to burn all the fat to get rid of it all, you can't specify where you lose fat.

Getting rid of it in a more natural manner is a way that will actually last.

Not girly!! The other thing to think about is that my understanding lipo is very bruising. It hurts more than top surgery, at least at the time from my understanding. You are going to be more limited in your movement. I saw several guys recovering and the ones who had the lipo didn't do quite as well, less active and so on. It's also 2k. Lots of ways to spend 2K. I didn't really spend that much for a personal trainer but I think it's a great idea. Really helped motivate me and provided individualized help in diet (less needed in my case) and exercise.

thanks guys, I just know it will be a big change from my 997 to have nothing squeezing down there. Perhaps I can opt to wear just a lower compression until I can exercise enough to be comfortable. I know it's not huge like on other people its just been one of things that always bugs me. Especially when my arms are little sticks. That 2k could get me years of gym membership with a pool. That's what I'd really like to do. Been years since the water.

A pool! I am super jelly. DO IT! Swimming is the best cardio in the world.

Not a feminine look. Have a look at guys...everyday guys, not bodybuilder guys and you will see ALL different shapes! I'm noticing, for example, there are quite a few men out there with rather large hips!
