I know I've only been on here for less than a week. But my family and friends and coworkers have ALL mentioned to me about how happy i am lately and less moody. I'm not on HRT or anything. I just think i found the answer to 21 years of questions. This site along with the topics and responses have made me understand more about myself. Until a week ago, i wasn't even sure about myself. But reading other peoples feelings, they are exactly how I feel and it feels so good to have something to look forward to. I know i barely know any of you. But you all are greatly appreciated in my book <3 :-*

It sounds like you finally found others who share your issue's and do not feel alone and/or guilty about being who you are. It was a great day for me when I found this family and learned of Gender Dysphoria. I never knew I had it or I could transition so late in life and be successful. Isn't it great to have a support system that understands, share's personal stories and doesn't judge? At 47 I started HRT and have been very happy as well. Feel free to PM me if you ever need to talk, vent or ask questions. I appreciate you joining our family as well. Here is a "BIG HUG" to start your journey with!  :)

It is still a little weird to talk to my family and friends and refer to myself as "trans" i've never once thought about it. For sure i have had plenty of thoughts in my life about becoming a girl, but never trans. (even though that is exactly what it means haha). I finally feel like after all is done with transitioning and surgeries, that i would finally feel like i belong somewhere.

Let me just say you have gotten on a speeding train going downhill with no brakes on an icy track with an upcoming curve. Transition is not easy, but it sounds like you will do OK. There will be hurdles and trials, but you have all of us for support now. It is nice to have a new sister in this family! BIG HUG!!  :) :) :)

I literally do nothing but read all the posts and replies on here. I want to extremely educate myself. I got picked on in high school for being gay, so i have built myself up to really not care about anyones criticism except for mine. I know being trans it will be more difficult. But what in life isn't difficult?? I've told my friends and family and they still love me and want me to be happy. So i have nothing to lose :)

We are all so glad you are out and able to be yourself. To be able to do that and be true to yourself makes us so happy :)

it feels good. My therapist called me a transgender yesterday, it made me tingle inside.

I can totally relate to this. Discovering I was trans ended 30 years of depression, and that was before HRT. I still had some downs between March 2010 and now, but things are really looking up.

Congratulations, CAL, and I'm glad to know you're happy!

My therapist literally talked to me on the phone for about an hour and she is on vacation at the moment. That's how I knew that she was going to be the one for me. She made jokes and kept it very casual. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all! Especially since it was the first time I called myself transgender outloud!

Yeah, I'd say that therapist is a keeper!

Hear, hear!  I love it when one of us gets a really good therapist.  I'm happy and excited for you, and can't wait to see what happens next in your life! :)

Thank you for sharing, good news is always welcome!!!

It's great to understand your identity, I'm glad you found out yours before I did at 32. After I accepted it, things honestly started looking up for me too - people noticed I was less depressed and more driven to succeed with university and other aspects of my life. I hope to have a therapist soon and I hope they're as good as yours sounds!

This is the real beginning!

It's so weird that just a couple weeks ago. I had no clue I wanted. It's almost surreal the feeling I have about how clear everything is. I have Susan's to thank for that, along with the beautiful ladies on here!

The sudden realization can be a real surprise!

Try to remember this feeling... there will be down times on this journey, too, and some of them will be pretty profound.  Remember, the folks here at Susan's are with you for good times and bad.  Sometimes we dance and sing and celebrate with each other, and others we help carry each other through the down spots.

Always remember life goes on, and no matter how horrific things seem one day, from the standpoint of five years later you will likely be able to see how your life worked out because of them.  The trick is hanging around to find out. :)

And celebrate those great days and victories!  There is no such thing as an inconsequential thing if it makes you happy. :)

I remember that "Oh this isn't what everyone else feels" moment. What I wouldn't give to have started all of this in my teens. But then again all I have learned and gone through has made me a much stronger woman.

Best of luck in your journey!
