Ignorant Neighbors

So the other night I was taking out the trash at my apartment and some of the neighbors were outside their building acting stupid. When They saw me they immediately started shouting at me calling me a girl guy and a she man. As much as I wanted to go over and punch them in they're ignorant lil mouths I ignored them and walked away. I'm twenty two years old and they're only sixteen or seventeen which would only make the outcome bad for me. I went back to my apartment sat and tried to cool down. My girlfriend came out of the bedroom to see what was wrong. I didn't really want to tell her because I hate having to include her in my problems. When I finally opened up about it she told me that they had also egged our roommate's car the day before. I can't help but feel like they are only doing this because of me. What do I do to get them to f**k off without having any legal repercussions?

Honestly, the next time they bother you, I say video tape it, and look directly at them while video taping (perhaps a smile would be a bit more taunting) and from there either show it to the cops or put it on Youtube for everyone to see and title or accordingly so people can see how big of d-bags they are.  If they want to act out, then give them a grand stage.

Sorry you had to go through that buddy.  Even if you decide to do nothing, what goes around comes around.

This whole situation reeks of the possibility that this could get really ugly for you if it's not handled properly. People like that tend to be low IQ people and they will only think of getting even if you call the cops and they are able to figure out who complained. Your car could be vandalized, or you could find that it's unsafe to walk alone in the apartment complex at night.

Before you drag the cops into the picture you might make the apartment management aware that people are egging cars and harassing people in the parking lot - is there any way to get pictures of what they did? Eggs will ruin car paint and that's pure vandalism, and they will probably think that the owner of the car complained. Apartments have some responsibility to ensure that their facilities are safe and secure, and doing it this way distances you from the situation. If the cops show up at your door to take a report then it'll be pretty obvious to anyone watching who complained.

Does the apartment complex have any kind of security?

I been there, not sure if they knew im trans or not, but my place and my car not only me but other peoples get eggeds and other just to annoy people, they have nothing better to do...maybe report it to the lanlord and police? Do you have something like a hate crime where you are? Get much proof that your getting harrass and get people to pair up, with your roommate.

It sucks that there is norrow minded people and they make my blood boil.

I'm so sorry this happened to you! A lot of my friends went through something similar after 9/11 because they are Arab-American.

I say talk to their parents first. Things often escalate when police have to be involved so that might be a last resort.

So sorry this happened to you.

This has nothing to to with me being trans, but I had neighbors from HELL not so long ago.  I complained and tried many times to get them evicted and even had to call the cops once, but the landlady could only do so much and they'd always revert to their old tricks and even escalate things.  Seems crazy, stupid and vindictive are a really bad combination.  I thought I had them royally busted once, but it turned out the security cameras in the building were fake.

Sadly, It only got better after I moved away.

I agree re: contacting the landlord first.  Many properties will have clauses in the lease which indicates that harassment, abuse, vandalism and generally miscreant behaviour are grounds for eviction.

Thank you for all of the kind words. There isn't really much security in the apartments where I live. I did talk to the landlord and she has given me the go ahead to install security cameras to watch and I also have installed a door chain to secure our door better. We have also talked to my roommate's mother who knows the kids parents and has told me if any of us have anymore problems with them to let her know. There is nothing more dangerous than a mother protecting her young so we'll see what happens from here.
