I received my new social security card yesterday. Now I have a question about Mass Health and Medicaid. Do I need to contact either to have my name changed in their system?

I believe so Beth.

:( It seems like things should be streamlined, esp with Medicare/caid but things can get so dysfunctional that its best to just call and give them your change of name and fill out any required forms.

The thing is I haven't seen any required forms. I got an email into a lawyer who deals with Medicaid so hopefully I will get an answer from her.

When I changed my name a few years ago, for my employer provided health insurance, I just had to give them a call and they just had me fax over the name change documentation. :)

I just learned that because they are both goverment run insurance policys that I don't need to notify them. Social security has done that for me.
