Hi,

Firstly I know many of you talk about 'shark week' but I like sharks!!! Seriously!!! So I don't wanna call it that, although of course I don't mind if others do!! :D

I started T nearly 7 weeks ago and my last monthly was due just over 2 weeks ago (so just over 6 weeks since the last). I know they can kind of spread out a little so I may still have another one, but I'm wondering from people's experiences whether once they slow down like this they are often lighter? Or can they still be like they are normally?

I'm asking because I'm now so worried about being caught out, especially when I'm not at home.

I had been on the pill all my life, so I've never had to deal with not knowing when I was due and also that made them much lighter, so even if I was out, I knew I had hours where I was safe and could always wait until I got home to deal with it if needed. I was on the pill for those exact reasons, so right now I hate that I don't know if it's going to catch me out and also if it does whether it will be heavy and so show through my clothing.

I've bled twice since coming off the pill, and both were heavier than when I was on it (as expected). First one arrived dead on 4 weeks, the second one was 1 day early (was 3 days after starting T). So it seems I'm pretty regular, meaning it must be the T as to why it hasn't arrived this time.

So yeah, just wondering from everyone else's experience if I did have another do you think it's likely be pretty light?

Also after how long do you think it's kind of safe to assume it's not returning? I'm kind of guessing after 3 or 4 months of not having one it must be safe to assume it's not coming? Again just worried as I don't want to be caught out later down the line or to spend the next year or so worrying that it may catch me out.

I hope that all makes sense?

Thanks,

Matt

None after T. Some have had a few, but if no show in a month or so, you should be safe.

Ah that's really, really good to hear! :) Thank you for the reply :)

I although I am thinking as I'm on Nebido I only had my second injection yesterday, so there could be a chance where my levels were dropping off that during that time the lining has built up, in which case at some point in the next week or so that may shed.

Fingers crossed!!!!!

When I was 14/15 (they only started at 14 I'm 39 now) I remember trying to work out roughly how many years I had 'till menopause and so how many more I would likely have in my lifetime. This was so I could count them down. Mad huh???? Wishing my life away until post menopause! Luckily they put me on the pill and that helped me cope all this time.

Mine lasted for four months after starting T.  They were abnormally heavy - as in flooding - and they lasted 14 days at a time.  It was torture, but they finally stopped.

Oooh yikes that sounds horrible!!!!   I'm assuming you mean they weren't like that before starting T?  How were they frequency wise?

When I was a kid mine were stupidly heavy, lasted up to 10-14 days and were also very frequent, like every two or three weeks. I think at one point I spent more days on than I was off. I think it was probably my distress at having them that made them like that. That's why I ended up on the pill (and other things too because of them as I also ended up at a GIC back then basically due to not coping - longer story).

No they weren't like that pre-T.  Pre-T they were very, very light (lasted maybe 3 days) and regular.  Once I started T, yeah - they would go for 14 days and then stop - start back in about another 14 days, so two weeks on, two off.  Really blew.

My system went haywire up until about 3 months in as well. It's hard to say how often I bled because I'd bleed for 3 weeks straight. It was never heavy, just there. Really odd. After that the well dried up and I'm now 4 months without a single drop. And I sure hope I didn't jinx it now.....

Your mileage will vary, as they say. Mine stopped as soon as I got my first shot. Even after halving my dose they never returned. I consider myself lucky.

But I have known a few guys who had their visits from The Captan for up to a year after starting. Hopefully the coast guard comes in sooner for you.

I got one after being on T for about a week, but I was due for one and then after that, nothing at all. Then I went off T while I waited to go to my doctor for a different form (I went from injection to cream) and I got another in that waiting span. After starting the cream... no more.

The girls I work with are jealous.

I got mine like clockwork for the first 6 months of being on T - it was really irregular before that, weird. They were most definitely lighter than before. Then I went on an E blocker and haven't had one since then, so around a year I've been free of the bloody things (couldn't help myself with that pun)

I still feel now that I might be caught out with one at any moment and keep emergency supplies just in case. I was either on the pill or on the depo shot for most of my life as well, I did not want to deal with having them every month, gawd no.

Oh no, that sounds horrible!!! I found it really odd bleeding after starting T, it was like my brain at that point really went, you know what..I shouldn't be dealing with this physical stuff any more.

It's odd how it affects us all differently.

Yeah, I hope you didn't jinx yourself either :/

Ah yeah, sounds like you are lucky. It's looking like I might be too. I hate living with the knowledge that it might catch me out. I forgot the other week and had travelled an hour and half to a gig. I was soooo worried something might happen. That was only a few days after I was due as well, so God knows whether or not it was likely. The hardest part of this all being like this now is that public toilets are even more of a stress than they were before. So I REALLY try and avoid them.

Jeese, glad it looks like I won't have to deal with them for another year or so.

Ah that sounds pretty much like me. I was due one 4 days after T and it came after 3 days.

Bummer that you got one in that gap, but at least it looks like they are pretty responsive at disappearing when on T so that's a comfort.

Yep, I've had a few women say that to me too when they learn that they stop when on T.  :D :D

Mmm that is odd. You'd expect it to be the other way round if anything.

I still bled when I was on the pill.

I keep trying to remember to keep a supply on me, but don't always remember and really hate public toilets right now though, so would hate to have to deal with that when out and about.

I hope they stay away for you!!!!

My partner started Nebido a few months back and has had quite a few periods that were completely out of sync with his previous cycles. Hopefully they'll stop soon. :)

I've been on patches for 2 months and I have had 1 period. It was very light, on schedule, and lasted 1 day. I think this may have been due to starting T during the 3rd day of my period. I should be starting soon, but my ovaries can be finicky even though I don't have PCOS.

I think it is dependent on your body's reaction to it, but I think guys that start on injections typically stop quicker.
