Hey all, just wanted to talk to people as I'm starting to except the real me. Little bit about myself I'm in the army, active duty for 4 years. Recently went through a lot of changes and growth after being admitted for SI and finely decided that I have to make a change. Its currently not allowed in the army to transition, but I've made steps to start reguardless. Saw a civillian therapist last week, since the military one has no experience when I talked to him, and she agrees that I'm making a good move. I've made appointments for laser hair removal and even an endo (earliest one is in january  :-\).

My wifes been very supportive and we even did some clothes shopping together  :D. I haven't told anyone else yet(don't want to get rejection cause I don't handle that well right now). I guess that's all I have to say for now, hope that it all goes well  :-X

Hi Kitty. Welcome to Susan's.

You've taken a big step in life, and it's one that we all understand.  I'm sure you've read some of the posts here over the last few months, so you probably already know there are a few former military members you can talk to.  I've been on Susan's for almost two years (under two account names), and during that time several girls have joined who were active military.  Some are still here, or stop by once in a while to add their thoughts to our discussions.

I'm sure the girls here will extend a hand with all the support, advice, and information you could ever want.  But we can't replace a good therapist, so it's wonderful that you've already started down that road.

One of the moderators will be along soon to give you the normal greeting and freindly lecture that they've given the rest of us when we joined.  And when ever you need to get some information from them there's always one around, so don't worry.

Welcome again, and thank you for your service.

Kathy

Welcome KittyKat, first congratulations for accepting yourself. This was my biggest obstacle, I struggled for years to come to terms. Only when I had nothing left inside did I make the decision to be me. I was in the Marine Corps but that was almost 20 years ago. Things maybe different than when I was in but I could never imagine transitioning while in the military.

You are very lucky to have the support of your wife. My wife supports me as well, I have read many horror stories about troubles at home. As if transition is not difficult enough.  :eusa_wall:

I love to go shopping with my wife too, I also love it when we get manicure and pedicures together, grab some lunch, just girls day out... ;D

Shopping was definetly fun, but we may have gone over board  :P, especially since I'm starting hair removal and its gonna cost :-X. I'm just glad she agreed to paying for it. I'm trying to figure out a good way to get a referal to see the endocronologist from my primary doctor whose military. I'm hoping he doesn't ask why I want to go when I ask.
