so im listening to pandora and today is a particularly weird day. and i started feeling anxious and impatient. i just want to be post op and im starting to get jittery cause ive got a long way to go and im at a point where research is all i can do to move forward with it.

anyway. i changed stations to flogging molly (an amazing celtic punk band) and it was a song i had never heard. and i dont know what any of the lyrics were at all except the title lyric 'if i ever leave this world alive'.
and for the duration of this too short song that i couldnt hear any words in i felt pretty and alive and that i was going to get to where i want to be in due time.

seriously. it was that beautiful.

needless to say music is subjective. there are a few songs that make me feel that way. the song afterglow by phaela is one im particularly fond of. i would pay millions (had i millions to pay) for a voice that beautiful and the lyrics match what im going through.

anyway sorry for rambling.

so im really curious as to what music makes you feel pretty. or helps you, whoever you may be, accept you when you feel ugly or low or sad or whatever.
Just delete my profile. im done with this site.

Really energetic female singers. Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Pink. From ages past, Pat Benatar.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

This is a song I played a lot when I used to play DDR more often. It's not really something that made me feel happy, but something about the sad and nihilistic tone of the song seemed to resonate with my soul:

But this song... this song always made me feel more like a girl when I played it ;):

Like club/pop crossover stuff.  Calvin Harris (sweet nothing is really great beat wise and lyrically), Kaskade, Lady Gaga.  Anything with a beat but not overdriven by drums.  Anything with old school nintendo game sounding synth is a huge plus, lol.

Everyone around here is probably sick of me posting Ayria by now, but seriously she's my favourite artist *EVER* and there's just so many of her tracks that strike cords with me :)

Favourite track that also happens to put me into 100% girl-mode?  Well it's a toss-up between Big City Lullaby:

And Girl on the Floor:

Both have that bouncy, Popy / Dancy vibe about them, but then you have the lyrics and undertone which are both dark and moody.  I love that Light / Dark contrast and they just completely unlock the door to my inner rock-chick :D

I'd say out of the two, I identify Girl on the Floor as being relevant to my trans* condition, whereas Big City Lullaby feel like standing on the edge of oblivion, opening my arms, and happily falling in ^_^ <333

This song speaks to me. It's as if the "little person" of the title is my repressed feminine self.

And somewhere, maybe someday
Maybe somewhere far away
I'll find a second little person
Who will look at me and say

"I know you
You're the one I've waited for
Let's have some fun."

Life is precious every minute
And more precious with you in it
So let's have some fun

From Synechdoche, New York (one of my favourite movies), it's by Jon Brion and performed by Deana Storey.
