How long before you saw defined breast development?

This question goes out to all of you who started truly 'board-flat' in the chest just as I did.  After five weeks since adding estrogen to my HRT regime there is clearly breast tissue growing within the bounds of my areolas.  Visually however there is very little protrusion yet.  I know everyones' situations are a little different and there are a lot of factors in play, but just to get a sense of it, how long did it take for you to see a clearly defined breast shape appear?  By this I mean an obvious line beneath them.  From the side it can still look pointy like a cone but from the front shows a hanging line.

Haven't started but my doctor says that breast development ends at about two years. *Shrug*

The stage that you're talking about sounds like Tanner III, the "soft tissue" stage where the nipple bud starts to fill out sideways a bit.

The general rule with everything is YMMV. Some reach this stage almost instantly, some never get there at all. But according to what I've read, most can expect to reach this stage of breast development after somewhere between 6 months and 12 months on hormones.

I hit it about halfway through month 6 myself, and they've been rounding out and filling in ever since.

Five months is barely getting started. From memory, during my first transition it took almost two months for something to start to be noticeable so I'd say you're already ahead of the curve. Growth isn't a constant - they stop and start, grow forwards then fill out, it's not a straight continuous process by any means.

I started with nothing at all... At about month 2 I developed the buds under the nipples. They got rather large over a further month before they starting to spread out. After that the fat started to accumulate as the buds went deeper and all the grands and ducts started to grow. At about month 5 I had small and perky AA cup boobs. At about month 7 I had A cup boobs. I'm still growing now at 9 months, looking forwards to a B cup and maybe more.

Honestly, I can't remember when it started, probably in my second month.  It's been progressive development since I started estradiol in June.  Most of my growth was fairly small until my latest estradiol dose increase in October.  Before that everything seemed fairly slow. Since my last dose increase, things have been developing at a much faster pace (I think I'm finally where I was supposed to be when I started).  I suspect my hormone levels weren't adequate enough until recently because I'm seeing a lot of progress within the past two months.  Oh well, better now than never.

Took a year before i had substantial growth going. Took two months for the process to start, though

While I can't predict how fast this is going to go for me I could be in for constant surprise.  Since I first posted, the breast tissue on my right side has already expanded more than a 1/4" beyond the areola.  Although it is still not obviously protruding much, the formerly flat disc formation has now expanded in depth to become more spherical.  The soreness and stinging in the nipples has subsided quite a bit but this doesn't appear to reflect a slowing of the growth.  I've had some of those infamous nipple-bumping incidents though.  Tolerable for the moment but training me to be more cautious, particularly at work.
