HRT in San Francisco?

Hi,
I am a M2F transgender living in Korea.
I will go to SF on Jan and stay there for a year or more.

Please let me know what is needed for having HRT in CA?
Is it available by student insurance?
How about it costs?
Is it needed a doctor's prescription?

HRT may be covered under your student insurance.  The cost depends in the specifics of the policy, deductibles, etc.

Hrt medication needs to be prescribed to be dispensed by the pharmacy, however, San Francisco does have "informed consent" clinics which will provide you with the proper documentation.

You asked about student insurance, so I assume that you will be attending a California college. Check the school's website and look for an LGBT center of some sort. That should get you started, anyway.

If you are under 25, go to dimensions clinic in the Castro and they will give you hormones. There will be a brief intake period before you can get the hormones (2-4 visits). This is what I did. They are very nice and you can even go there for hormones even if you don't have insurance. If you don't have insurance they will likely order you the hormones from Stroheckers Pharmacy in Oregon. I am F2M so I am not sure what the cost comparison would be but when I started going there it was $60 for 10mL Testosterone and now that I have insurance it's like $25.
