I've been feeling weird about my face and hair, I'm putting a few pictures up and some good opinions would be nice. I personally feel that I would like to get a nose job and brow bossing sometime in the future. Just a note I started HRT January 3rd, 2013 and last December I began using minoxidil and propecia then on the 3rd switched to fin, I stopped using minoxidil in May.

Personally I can't see anything wrong with your hair (or your face and brow for that matter), it maybe needs to have more of a female styling but that's about it.

Yea nothing about your face really jumps out to me as masculine, and I agree a more feminine hair style would help. I'm not an expert on face feminization by any means though. You could always try http://www.virtualffs.co.uk/. I'm planning to get an assessment done there as soon as I have the money to realistically afford FFS. They might be able to give you a better idea of what can or can't be done to make your face appear more feminine. But personally I think that even if there were things they recommended that you could do, they would end up being more subtle adjustments than anything else.

I can't see anything wrong with either your face or your hair. If you let your hair grow out a bit it would frame your face a bit more. :)

I've always felt really subconscious about my hair as I was balding since I graduated high school four years ago and that it was always painfully thin. I've been letting my hair even out as the corners just grew back earlier this year. I'm now at the point where I can and am going to be letting it grow out more than I have this past year. As with my face something is just nagging me about it really. I guess I maybe a bit too hard on myself especially since I'm beginning to have a body to die for, I'll post pics tomorrow as I'll be in a new really cute outfit!

Yea, starting to lose your hair in your teens/early twenties sucks doesn't it? Thank god mine is doing a lot better now too, but it's still more thin on the top than it used to be, and my temples still haven't really filled in as much as I'd like. Anyway, try not to think about it too much. Years of thinking of your face as a boy's face can make it hard to see yourself as a girl, even if everyone else already does.

Alright.

Your hair line is masculine, as it ends in the rectangular shape thing, your cheeks could be higher (that flat area under the eyes is a masculine trait), forehead sizing seems masculine, as is the brow bone thing, there is a larger distance between your upper lip and nose, and your jaw ends in a rather rectangular shape.

I'd consult with a cosmetic surgeon about this. Note not to take what I say as too factual, I'm not a qualified doctor or anything. If you aren't able to do much about the hairline, wigs?

Except, I have seen many cis-women with exactly the same hairline (mine is same, btw, so I DO pay attention to those details).
And I would totally kill for Your brow, btw :)

After sitting on these pictures I think I have a more androgynous face than anything and I think longer hair and my body and voice will really help with passing. I guess I can always ask a professional what they think and I am happy to not have an adams apple, seriously I can't feel it on my neck.

Yeah, those things aren't at all helpful when it comes to passing. I'm lucky to not have much of one, just a tiny bump. Saw a cis guy (well I presume he was a cis guy) with a massive Adam's apple the other day and I felt really fortunate to not have one like that. What I can see from the side pic above, you don't seem to have much of one though.

I see what you are saying, and I think it has to be the brows. They are still really big n fluffy, and low. Maybe if you try adding some arch?

Seriously shaping your brows is probably one of the best feminizing things you can do for a face.

http://hairremoval.about.com/od/eyebrowshaping/ss/eyebrow-shaping.htm

You've got quite a bit of bossing, too, but with the right eyebrow shape and hairdoo one can get away with it!

If I were to make suggestions about your face and FFS, I would suggest the following:

-forehead contouring
-brow lift
-upper lip lift
-chin contouring
-hairline advance

You could also consider rhinoplasty, but I don't think your nose is outside of the typical feminine range. I think you have a great face to start with. As others have said, if you had a more feminine haircut and shaped your eyebrows, you could more than likely pass already.

Oh, and HRT really takes time. I'm nearly at the 3-year mark (April) and I still notice some changes -- although my dose has been changed several times. You're barely coming up on a year, I think you have more to see.

Sybil looks fine. Great face, smooth skin, no overtly masculine facial traits, no masculine wrinkles.

A feminine hairstyle, tweezing her eyebrows a bit, not too thin, and some make up will do.

Your advice is a bit weird because IF Sybil would have have her forehead, cheeks and jaw done and would wear a wig she would end up looking
A: overdone
B: with a face that screams "TS!!!" from miles away
C: much older than her birth age (cheekimplants make anyone's face look harsh, cheap, older and much bigger, an 'older' people's trait)
D: weird because of the wig on top of it all and because of a totally unnecessary jaw reduction (no masculine jawcorners on an already natural tapering jaw!)  which would throw her face off balance, especially with cheekimplants.
E: strange, because Sybil has a smooth forehead with no visible browridge....and making such a forehead even 'smoother'.....

Well, anyway, Sybil would wind up feeling even 'weirder' about her face all because of a way too easy given 'FFS 'advice'.

I would say FFS 'manmade 'beauty' is something completely different from natural, real world beauty....if you want a decent, normal daily life outside the internet...

All too often internet FFS stories and 'results' and the MTF comments on that remind me of the fairytale 'the new clothes of the emporer'...whereas the emporer walks around naked but the MTF gets stuck with a FFS face for life.

an automatic gender classification software using eigenfaces... surprise... read at the bottom

QuoteGreat surprise: it's the eyes and eyebrows the genders differ in...

I repeat (emphasis mine)

Great surprise: it's the eyes and eyebrows the genders differ in...

so... do not worry too much about FFS: do your eyebrows done, a bit of make up and 90% you are done.

Hey Riley,

Honestly, I don't see any issues with your face in terms of passing.  I would recommend shaping the brows a bit more and consider a more feminine hair cut.  Those things will help you a lot if you want to pass.  Other than that, I don't think you really need to do anything to your face.  FFS is a godsend to some, but it's not always needed in order to pass.  And I'm not knocking those that do it because I probably will get rhinoplasty myself, but some get carried away chasing a dream of perfection.   Yes, there is some brow bossing, but many women have this issue.  Judging your face in particular, I don't think it's something that "outs" you, so don't feel like you must have ffs in order to pass.

I'm considering going sometime to get my eyebrows done in a more feminine way and have my best friend help me with them too. As for makeup I'm honestly really not that interested in really, I tried it a few times and didn't really like it. Plus I don't want to get piercings either but I'd like a few tattoos but lets get back on topic. Right now I'm growing my hair out and it's still too short to really style it plus it was pretty messy anyways when I took it. It's been growing very wavy and somewhat messy this year, my dad told me I have his messy hair lol. Usually it's really poofy and I have to begin carrying a comb as it does get messy, think Harry Potter messy if you've read the books. Just this time last year it was really obvious that I was balding and I'm honestly amazed it has grown back this much, I'll once again put that before pic at the bottom. Right now I'm trying to even out the front and it has gotten a lot longer this year and I do feel I could grow it out. I do want an androgynous shoulder length style for it, nothing too masculine or feminine really. I still do feel a bit self conscious about this hair but mainly I'm really happy. I don't feel extremely positive about my face but I think it's because I constantly look at it in the mirror so a lot of times I still see that boy I used to be looking back at me in the mirror. At the very least maybe brow bossing but again I'll have to ask my surgeon what she thinks when I do meet her in the future. I definitely feel that given even more time my face will get a lot softer and more feminine.
