Hey all! I recently had Top Surgery, and I have a question.

So my nipples pre-op were brown and post-op they are currently brown. Right now I'm at the stage where my nipples kind of fluff (best way I can describe it sorry) But I guess a lot of fluff came off, and now a patch of my nipple is pink.
When it heals will it go back to brown or will it remain pink? The rest of it is still brown, except for this part currently

I would think that it would return to its natural color, but only your doc could say for sure.

Unless it's scar tissue I would also assume it'll go back to being brown. I've damaged my nipples quite a bit in the past (scraping skin of and the like purely by accident) and they've always ended up like before.

Are you dark skinned or is it just that your nipples are dark?  I know for people who are dark skinned then it's very possible to have pinker/paler nipples in post results.  If it does end up the case, it's not the end of the world though.  You could get some tattooing to fill it in and it shouldn't even hurt too much if you had a nipple graft because sensation is very often minimal there.

It's like any scar though, it's all very wait and see.  Everything starting off in healing as pink.  When a scab falls off a wound, the new skin is very pink and it darkens up over time.  But when it's all the way through the layers of skin it can end up more pink or pale compared to surrounding skin.  We all heal differently and time will tell.  If you've had any substantial scabs or cuts before, how they look now will give you a rough indication of how your scars will look with this surgery, just adapt perceptions to darkness of skin.  I have scars on my tanned forearm and scars on my untanned torso.  So I use my torso scars to roughly guesstimate what the DI scars will look like and the more tanned skin to imagine how any nipple scarring would look.  If you have any old rough and tumble kid scars or whatever, how do they look compared to surrounding skin?  That'll give you a rough idea for how potential scarring with this particular wound will heal.

Best of luck!
