TessaMarie, I really like your spreadsheet. How did you make it?

I like charts as they show progress so well, and and give inspiration to continue.

Do you think it would be possible to make a community spreadsheet that others could use, and could be downloaded from this site?

Thanks AnonyMs    :)

It is an ordinary Excel spreadsheet.  I have not made it very user-proof for others, so, if I were to upload a copy, it would probably only be useful to those who already know their way around Excel.  Aside from that, my only concern about uploading it would be that some might concentrate on their daily weight measurements rather than their 7-day & 28-day averages.  That would not be healthy.

If you send me a PM/email with your email address, I can send you a copy of the spreadsheet.  You would not be the first  ;)

There are three worksheets:

The first is just data.  I record my weight & medications (trans & other) daily, & my measurements occasionally (too lazy, oops).  I would need to remove my dosages before sending.  This sheet is not necessary if daily weight is the only item being recorded.

The second reads the weight from the first & contains the formulae that produce the number series for the graph.  Daily weight could be entered here if other records are unnecessary.

The third is the graph itself.

One thing to note:    I have been told repeatedly by many people (including some of my doctors), that I should not be recording my weight daily.  They think that once per week is all I should be doing.

The reason I have been given is that they are worried I might place too much stress on my body by trying to lower my weight every day, which would be very unreasonable and only really possible when either starving or anorexic.  I do understand their concern, but I also know myself.  I am a numbers geek.  I like seeing trends & patterns in numbers.  This is only possible with many data points.  Even though I measure my weight every day, I use the 7-day average as my "current weight" and the 28-day average as a guide to my progress.

I have found that my daily weight can rise or fall by as much as 3.2lbs (1.5kg) with ordinary living.  I don't like to see a 2 or 3lb rise in a single day, but it does not worry me because I am aware that this happens normally every now & then (eg: twice within the past 2 weeks, & my weight has fallen by 2 or more lbs in one day twice within the past 3 weeks).  The moving averages are what actually let me know how I am doing, not the daily weight measurements.

Be well    :)

TessaMarie, sent, thanks.

I can use Excel somewhat. I'm hardly an expert, but I'm sure I can modify it to my purposes. I like seeing the trends too, and it will provide an incentive to keep suffering (I like food way too much).

I doubt I could lower my weight on a daily basis even if I tried. With the daily fluctuations I'd have to lose weight at an incredible rate to stand a chance of that happening. I'll see if I can work out a high but safe rate and target that.

Hugs for you all, you're doing great!!  Toni, 10+ lbs..  way ta go, girl!!

Me?   SS, DD..  or I guess SW, DD.. was 153.7 stepping out of the shower this morning.. was 154.3 last week-ish.. and the week before..  I vary a few lbs up//down with my median weight right abt 154.. and I'm 5'10" ..  My Endo was NOT happy with my BP, (appt was this morning)..  I was 100/110, over 50/60 for the longest time.. but shes worried that I've been 150/160 over 80/90 for the last 6 months now..  put me on meds to see how it reacts for a few months.. I HAVE to get it back down, but this freakin' stress in my life..  NFW its going to go down until I'm either out of the house (how is THAT gonna help lower it?) , or my family says "go for it, we'e all behind you!"  Yeah, like THAT's ever gonna happen..

Sorry, was on a high b/c my T is well into Female range now..

Hi girls.  I'm returning for a little while if you'll have me. :-\  I know I don't visit Susan's much, but I do have this thread bookmarked and look at it more often than not on Fridays.  Anyway I need help and there's no motivation around me to encourage doing what's right.  I've hovered between 208 and 213 for the last month, and that has really started to bother me.  Especially since some of the clothes that look nice on me are no longer flattering. :(   So ...  Finally got discussed last week and pushed it down to 207.
Here's what I weighed last December from Page 1 and I'll just cut down from now on.  Goal is still about 170.

Way to go, Toni!  You're really doing well, and I bet you feel pretty good about yourself.  :)

Kathy, what kinds of things do you do to lose weight?  What works for each person is very different, so let us know what works for you and we can help encourage you with that.

I haven't been able to post my weight for a couple weeks.  We just moved and my scale was accidentally packed away in a box.  So I won't be able to weigh myself for a few more weeks, and I don't want to use another scale that isn't consistent.

Thanks for the kind words and support katieWonderWomanj, and all we can do Kathyk is keep marching as best we can. We've all conquered more already, so I am sure you will conquer a few fat cells once you set yourself to it again. Why not start today???? Okay, okay, after the holiday!  Like me!!! Also, you inspired all this weight loss, I would hope you can see how well you moved many of us in this community and find strength for yourself knowing your strength pushed us and can inspire a new round of weight loss recruits! (And a few who need to gain weight too!)

Whew, shook another pound, which will save me from what I believe could have been my first back to back weight gain week as I got into this holiday weekend with numerous events planned. One was dinner tonight with my best friend from the Marine Corps as he is visiting the area this weekend. I ate like a fool, came out to him (went well as I expected from him) and gained half of an old ass cheek. Tomorrow I hope to eat normal, but then Sunday it is off the the State Fair. All we do is eat and walk, and eat, and walk slow, and eat, and walk really slow, eat, and crawl home. So I expect to gain enough weight to piss me off and back into a serious effort again (as I have been just inching down, which is lame considering I am still technically obese.) My buddy was more surprised by my weight loss, last time he was here this time last year, I was around 315 maybe even 320 again as I was creeping up. So I am down about 100 from then, though I didn't really get going till January when I came out to myself and admitted I was transsexual (which is where my ticket starts from as that is when I started to actually care about losing weight.) Let's just hope I don't gain all 100 back this weekend!!! I hope my set back only puts me back one week (meaning what I gain I ditch the following week.)

For the last year I've been checking my weight everyday and I try to stay between 158 and 162, I have to try real hard to keep that weight on as it seems to be the "healthy" figure for me, at 6'2" I look to thin if I get down to 150 or less.

Thank you for the kind words Toni.  Yes, it's time for me to get serious again and stop the binge once or twice a week.  And I'll admit to total failure already due to a Friday lunch buffet with JoAnn, and prime rib dinner with my brother.  And there's more failure today but that won't be detailed.  I'm bloated and unhappy, but tomorrow is a hard work day in the yard so maybe that'll help.

Oh my.  Katie, my diet is mostly starvation and heavy yard work.  A couple pieces of fruit in the morning, a salad at lunch (if I stop work to eat), and a full dinner at around 7 or 8 pm.  Always have one cup of milk with dinner, but the rest of my fluid is always unsweetened soft drinks or flavored water.  Luckily there's a lot of exercise with strenuous house repair and yard work, so I'm never really at a loss for some physical work.  But just haven't walked a lot lately, even though I've always loved to hike, explore, and find new places to photograph.  Lost 60 pounds between July 2012, and sometime around May 2013.  Then dropped another 15 pounds before the end of December when I started posting here.  There just hasn't been anything positive since then.   ???

I'll see your posts each week girls.  So here's to our success.

Love ya all.  K

Hi girls,

Just checking in. I see a few good results here this week. Toni, your making progress I see. Also I see some are having a little trouble. Losing weight isn't easy. Mine hasn't changed either, I'm still stuck at 118 myself but our weather here has broke so, I'll be able to start getting outside more. Work has also picked up some which also gets me out of the house. I hate these plateaus. They are hard to break through and so discouraging, which is why I've refrained from posting my weight for now until I start losing again. I've found that in my case, eating less won't break a plateau, only an increase in physical activity will coupled a long with a slight increase in calories. Yes, I  know how it sounds. But this tricks your body out of starvation mode, which is what causes plateau's, back to normal raising your metabolism out of starvation mode. It works for me anyway.

As always I wish everyone my very best.

Note:  I had an emergency resection of my lower intestine on Sun 27/Jul after it was perforated when a femoral hernia detached.  This means that my main concern is making sure I do not eat anything that might bind me up, or distress the surgical repair in any way.  Losing or gaining weight is a lot less important than this.  So, even though I am still taking daily measurements, my focus is not currently on what those measurements are.

(Rolling averages are a better indicator of progress than single data points.)

Sorry I missed a couple of weeks.  I was away last weekend with the missus (13 years married), & have been very tired since.  I still have a while to go before I am really over surgery.  It is frustrating to not be able to do so many of the ordinary things that I have been taking for granted for years.  I cannot even load bagged groceries into the car (yeah - I tried that earlier today - ouch).

I noticed that my belly still protruded a little even when my weight dropped to 161.2lbs (73.3kg) on Saturday.  Losing weight alone may not help that.  It is still a bit too soon for physio.

Also, at 163-164lbs (c.74.3kg), the bones in my face have started to look prominent, making me look a bit gaunt.  Time to stop losing weight & maybe even bring it back up a little.  165lbs (75kg) is looking like it may be a good target for my lower weight limit.

My appetite still has not returned to what it was.  I am only able to eat about half of what I could a couple of months ago.  I am not going to worry too much about this unless my weight keeps dropping when I do not want it to.  I am hoping that my weight will stabilize close to where it is at at the moment.

My focus is very much on recovering from surgery.  I have not been eating nearly as much as I should be, but I am finding it hard to eat more than I am.  Checking in here each week will help motivate me to eat properly.

Welcome back KAT & KathyK.  It is good to see you here again.  I am looking forward to seeing both of you on the thread a little more.    :)

Toni:  You're doing great!  Do not let a couple of slow weeks convince you otherwise!     :icon_hug:

Paula, Michelle:  Maintaining your weight definitely beats finding a whole load of unwanted extra pounds to put on.

Ally:  I think you're doing a lot better than I am able.  You have been maintaining your weight really low for a long time, and have kept your plateau within striking distance of your target.  You do not seem too happy with that, but I am impressed with how you do not let any discouragement you might feel turn into a multi-pound weight gain.

Katie:  Hope you are loving your new place   :D

Thank you all for being here.  Seeing your posts helps me feel less alone.  (I would feel odd if I was the only person posting each week.)

Be well,

Tessa

Thank you Tessa, I really appreciate your words. They made me smile. :) I'm putting my makeup on getting ready for the 1 & 12 hour drive to go see my Endo this afternoon, but when I saw your post I had to reply. Yea I get a little discouraged with so little to lose and being prevented from reaching my goal. The weather here hasn't been helping because obviously I can't get out in the rain, and a certain medication I take makes it impossible to go out when it's above 95 degrees, and recently I've had both weather conditions to contend with. However, the weather has broke now, much earlier than usual but, hey, I'll take it. So maybe I'll soon be able to get outside more so I can break this plateau and reach my goal. I have to break it with physical activity, because I eat so little now without my vitamins I'd prolly be malnourished. So I don't want to cut my calories any. Doing so wouldn't break my plateau anyway. Only physical activity with a slight increase in calories will. So I'm looking very much forward to the coming months. I'd love to be at my goal weight for my SRS in December.

This is what happens when I can't stay away from food, and hate myself for not pushing food away.  Oh that's right, I promised not to use the word Hate, so ... I really dislike myself for not pushing food away.

238.

I've lost about ten pounds in the last month, on the way back down after a stressful few months of school. Happy to be exercising again. I'm trying to remember to eat enough. My stomach has shrunk a lot, and a little bit of food has been enough to keep me going for a long time. I added up what I ate yesterday and realized that I only had 550 calories - definitely not a safe amount, but I really was full after the meals I had. I'm going to go grocery shopping to pick up some more fruits and get some ingredients for bigger, richer meals. I need to be eating a little bit more, which is absolutely counterintuitive to wanting to lose weight.
