It might be possible, it depends on genetics and how fast they make the hair grow. I don't know enough about face-waxing to recommend it or not, but I'd lean towards 'not recommended'.

It helps a little. IDT for most of it that it would be that effective. It works because waxing pulls off some of the cells on the epidermal layer of the skin (which isn't good for you). It also helps because every time you pull a strand of hair, there's a tiny chance that you may damage the blood supply to the follicle.

It may just be her bias, but her opinion was that waxing and plucking made the hairs more difficult to treat later on.  Plucking can damage and distort the follicles, making it harder to get the probe to the base of the hair shaft, making them more resistant to treatment.

On a vainer note... I'm not really willing to let my facial hair grow long enough to wax. 

If you can afford it, laser and electrolysis are really the way to go.

I remember my electrologist who treated someone who plucked and waxed and eventually had to turn that person away because the hairs were becoming impossible to treat. She told me that a straight follicle starts to look like a letter J and getting to the bulb is nearly impossible.

I never waxed or did anything crazy to my face and yet I still had some sub surface hairs and those were a royal pain to treat. Some required lancing (a tiny incision) just to guarantee that were treated successfully. I could not imagine how painful it would be to treat a face that had 20% hair like that.

I have a believeable face with shaving, but I just don't feel like shaving every single day anymore. does anyone know if nair works?

Nair works for every single part of my body except my beard. I have a beard like a lumberjack though.

HRT has quickly slowed beard growth. I said, "Quickly slowed" hehe.

Get thee to HRT girl! I do not say that to just anybody here, and I know I was tough on you in the past. If you want ideas/brainstorms/suggestions let me know or send me a PM. I have a hunch this could go rather quickly for you now.

Also, look into the Tria. 😉 it will save a lot of $ in the long run.

Be very careful with Nair etc, they are very caustic, get some in an eye and it will blind you. So NO don't use those products on your face.

My electrologist suggests waxing thicker parts of beard (such as top lip) as a way of getting rid of all hair so that from then on, the hair that you see is in the right growth phase for treatment.  Apparently, the hair there is layered more so that it is hard to get to the under layers until you have a clearing (or something). I didn't as I just wanted it all cleared.  The thought of waxing my top lip didn't really appeal.

To echo Zumbagirl, I was also told was that plucking is discouraged (by them!!) as it makes is much harder to get the electro probe into the follicle due to distortion as a result of damage from plucking.  Irregular plucking is probably ok though as I imagine the damage is cumulative rather than immediate (otherwise why suggest waxing?)

I am with Cindy, keep chemicals like Nair away from your face.  Too much risk of damage.

This is why no one should ever wax facial hair.  Much better to shave until you can get laser or electolysis.  And with your dark hair laser would work well. 

Also been told not to use Nair or other products on facial skin because it can cause damage.

So I had my beard waxed a few times. Yes, it kind of slowed the regrowth a bit, and softened the regrowth a bit but it became clear pretty quickly that it really wasn't going to make it go away so I found a place that did electrolysis. Now that has been making an impact, none of those little suckers have grown back since being zapped. When I started the treatment my electrolysist told me no more waxing or plucking.

As for the j-shaped follicles that might very well be completely true. If so it would stop laser from being effective as well as certain forms of electrolysis. The type I've been getting (multi-probe galvanic) fortunately goes around bends so even if I have done something stupid here it shouldn't be a problem.

if you try laser make sure the laser is an Alexandrite laser. It's wavelength is more suitable to facial hair. My first treatment was quite effective in clearing my face. May take as many as 5-6 20 min treatments.

I tried nair once . My face broke out in a severe rash for  2 days . Not a good idea.

I was told never to pluck or wax my face.  Laser or electro is useless on these hairs, then they grow back.

If you are young, laser is the only way to go.  I wish I'd done it before half of mine turned gray.
