Does anyone know if there are any risks that are associated with wearing compression shorts?
I have a pretty big butt which usually stops me from passing. I am really interested in wearing a pair, but I want to make sure that I am aware of any possible risks.

I don't think there are any risks if you get them in the correct size. If they are too small they will be pretty uncomfortable. There maybe risks of blood supply/clotting, but only if you get them too small or have health issues. Also as with chest binding you should give tissue time to rest. I don't know how long you should rest, but you don't need them when your sleeping.

I have some champion ones that work, but I think they only really work for my thighs. I got them in the same size as my underwear, but they work better with briefs. I'm at the upper edge of my size range, so going down a size would be really uncomfortable.

No risk unless you have testicles. They will lower sperm count.

Thanks for the info. I would probably wear them when I am going out. I was wondering if it would be safe for me to wear during the day and then I just take them off in the night.

The only thing I can think of is increasing the chances of getting nastiness down there because you're not allowing that area to breathe as much, but as long as you're taking them off at night I can't see it being a serious problem.

I used to wear a body suit version of those shorts - they were made for men so compressed in all the right places rather than the womans versions, worn under my short binder every day gave a good shape. I cut the crotch out of mine though, not only does it make it WAY easier to pee it stops the risk of bacteria and stuff wreaking havoc.

I wear something like this under my board shorts as it helps keep things where they should be when swimming or active like I tend to be when wearing them. However, I dont wear ones intended for binding purposes, I actually have cycling shorts and cut the pad out of the crotch area. One thing I will mention though is if you get them make certain they are the breathable ones! I first started with traditional cycling shorts that do not breath at all but dry quickly and compressed well, however, I would get quite a bit of odor "down there". Then I switched to what are called cycling short liners. They're breathable and meant to be worn under every day clothes so you don't have to wear spandex shorts on longer bike rides. I cut the crotch pad out of them as well but they are very breathable and still offer compression. So I cannot stress the importance of breath-ability if using something like this.
