Stupid cameras

So I bought one of those all inclusive makeup starter sets so I could practice, I feel like I got a pretty good look and I wanted to snap a picture to see what you ladies think, but whenever I tried to take a picture I ended up looking so masculine that it would probably make Navy SEALS feel inadequate. I know it's mostly the lighting, in the mirror I think I look borderline cute, but I guess that's the way it goes. I'm not sure why I'm posting this, just felt like getting it out.

Hang in there. I have the same problem with the camera. Always seems to make the edges so hard.

Shortly after I resumed HRT, I set up to take a picture of myself to document the damage and the improvement on HRT. I looked like a survivor from a concentration camp and very gaunt. No wonder my mom was telling me to put weight on even while I was about 10 pounds overweight. Dropping 30 pounds and a year on HRT, my mom now says my weight looks good and don't lose any more. Give it time and remember you will be the last one to see all the changes. It takes time for your brain to see what others see.

Here's one I don't hate, what does everyone think?

Clean up those eyebrows and get electrolysis. Other than that you pass to me. Natural False eyelashes go a long way.

Edit: the blush or contour you used looks a bit orange. If your going to contour use a brownish shade to contour and a rosey shade for blush. Don't go so heavy with the blush or contour. Always tap your brush on the counter once and then apply it. If you add too much it will do the opposite and make your face look harsh.

Pictures of women need to be shot level or with the camera a bit above the face. It's how women are normally viewed in public as they are shorter than men plus the fact you are using a short focal length lens and it will reduce the fishbowl effect on your jaw.

Your blush looks orange and is not your color; and it should go closers the the corner of your mouth. Currently it looks like it's riding on your cheekbone. Eyebrows are one thing that no woman neglects. Thining and shaping then goes a long way. It doesn't look like you're wearing foundation. I would suggest foundation if you are planning on wearing makeup... your skin tone (like most everyone) is uneven and draws your eye. It will also go a long way to helping the beard shadow. I am not sure how you shave, but a dual edge razor or a straight razor will help with getting close enough that the shadow will be negligible. The last suggestion would be to try a different hairstyle. The center part is not an easy look to pull off. It has been taken over by 50 year old bikers and teenage stoners.  Part it a little off center, and perhaps give the top some volume.
At what point did my life go Looney Tunes? How did it happen? Who's to blame?... Batman, that's who. Batman! It's always been Batman! Ruining my life, spoiling my fun! >:-)

I won't comment on the makeup because others already have and because I'm no expert.

But, for taking photos of yourself, don't take a selfie!  Selfies make everyone look bad because the camera is too close.  Human arms just aren't long enough.  Get someone to take the photo for you from a distance (That's what zoom lenses are for).  Or, if you are flying solo, set up the camera on a tripod and use a remote or a timer to take the shot.

Aname,

From the ears/nose on up, you look very nice.

Have your eyebrows done professionally.

Maybe a concealer for the beard area might help.

Definitely look into laser and electrolysis for the beard area.

Thank you Dawn, that's something to look forward to. I took some of the comments to heart.
Firstly I know my eyebrows need work, I'm not even close to full  time yet so doing too much to them would not be a good thing right now. I have been looking for a laser place, but a lot of these people seem really sketchy where I am. I was wearing foundation in the picture, the camera is able to see my beard shadow better than you can with the naked eye. I've put more on in the following, I changed the way I do the blusher in this one, and I added a lot more foundation.

I've also tried changing the framing per Dena's recommendations, and of about a dozen this was the best one,

While I don't think I look too masculine in it, I do look at least 10 years older than I really am.
With respect to the center part, I have a bit of a widows peak so I can't really go to either side. Thanks for the tips/criticism, this is helpful.
