Forum,
Allow myself to introduce... myself.  I'm Claire and I'm transgender.  "Hi Claire!" I've been hanging out in the chatroom on IRC for a couple of months now and I thought it was high time I made an introduction on the forums.  I'm still trying to find myself but currently I am slowly working toward transitioning to living full time as a female.  Unfortunately I'm very overweight and must lose 100 lbs before my doctor will allow me to take estrogen.  At the time of this writing I'm taking another step toward health by quitting my off and on habit of smoking cigarettes.
So about me... hmmm, well I'm a lesbian (at least pre-HRT).  I like pink only in small amounts and usually only when accompanied by black.  I am not the most girly girl in the world but that is ok, because I'm me!  I couldn't care less about heels and still adjusting to the idea of putting paint on my nails lol.  I like computers and I work with them as a software developer.  I am also a musician and enjoy singing and playing the guitar. Someday my princess and I will ride off into the sunset together and live happily ever after.

I am very pleased to meet you Claire.  HRT can be taxing on some of the organs, particularly the liver and kidneys.  So it is a good plan you have to drop some weight.

Best of luck to you.

Welcome to Susan's Place Claire, we're happy to have you join us. I hope you find the love and support that you need here, and that you also have some fun and make lots of friends. There's some people here also trying to quit smoking and loose weight as a New Year's Resolution, maybe you'll find some support and tips in the "Addiction" or "Health" boards.

Please be sure to review

Losing a bunch of weight and quitting smoking at the same time is totally doable.  I did it at age 42.   Cold turkey on the smoking and alcohol, plenty of water, low sodium, lots of vegetables, low fat, low carb (low glycemic carbs only!).  I would advise against serious weight training, as the muscle gain I had was completely regrettable.  Do lots of cardio instead, start with walking 30 mins per day and slowly boost it to 90 mins and more intense walks.  I personally can't run much due to a bad knee, but walking is great.

You will love the new you.

Hi Claire!

Welcome to the family. Seems like you already have a good plan in place and you're well on your way. I'm happy for you. Good luck on the weight loss. I hope you and your princess do get to live happily ever after. :)

I'd rather see the world from another angle
We are everyday angels
Be careful with me 'cause I'd like to stay that way

Hmmm...Claire....you sound familiar.  I think I may have met you somewhere before. :P
Discord, I'm howlin' at the moon
And sleepin' in the middle of a summer afternoon
Discord, whatever did we do
To make you take our world away?

Discord, are we your prey alone,
Or are we just a stepping stone for taking back the throne?
Discord, we won't take it anymore
So take your tyranny away!

Sometimes I blog things

Of course I'm sane.  When trees start talking to me, I don't talk back.

Uh, Anna. Are you OK or am I that hopeless of a future geek? *giggle*  ;D

You aren't hopeless!

All these buttons on the keyboard, confusing me. EECK, multiple drives! Wait a second. WHEW, found the power button to the tower. Hey, my pencil eraser is not working on the monitor, help! ;D Where is that darn Decaf? ;D

Thank you everyone for the lovely welcome.  I'm especially fond of Anna++'s well formatted code based introduction. :) I look forward to spending time here learning more about myself and experiencing life as myself.

Lots of love,
Claire
