He says he does not favor a boycott of the Olympics, but hopes athletes will speak out and protest Russia's anti-LGBT policies.

Typical former soviet reaction to their problem of population decline.... crack down on homosexuality. Like that's going to work. Perhaps a better plan would be to make the country desirable for people to want to bring a new life into the world.
