Out of patience, losing my mind!

(That title makes me seem like such a drama queen, ha!)

Anyway, probably a big rant here but I just need to write... something. To someone. :(

It's been... exactly a year since I started talking with my GP, and nothing's happened. Like actually nothing. Like if I hadn't been self-medding then I would've lost my mind by now, and then to help with that I lost two orders of hormones to customs so now I've got nothing left to take.

I've been keeping myself sane by working ~10 hours a day on my video game for the past 6 months and funding some of it with whatever I had left of my JSA after everything else, and then I lost 4 weeks of that because working 2 weeks of volunteer work doesn't count unless it's for a charity, soooooo now I don't even know what to do. Even though my qualifications and experience aren't that bad I can't find a job at all, and I'm not being picky - I'd go for almost anything, I just need some work to distract myself and to afford to host my website and all. Or even worse, I find a website development job or something and then they get their side and run off.

Now I'm going to go back to not going out or talking to anyone for the next 6 months, yay. Sorry for the random rant. ._.

Sound rough, hope it works out for you soon.

You've been talking to your GP for a year about being trans* and nothing has happened? Why? Perhaps they aren't best suited to help you - perhaps find a new GP or ask for a referral to a psychiatrist who handles gender issues as a way to break the impasse.

Susan's does not support "self medding", it is a dangerous thing to do.  Have you told your doctor what your taking?  Are you getting blood work to see how your system is handling the hormones?
Nameless here for evermore!;  Merely this, and nothing more;
Tis the wind and nothing more!;  Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore!!"

Some time in April I started going to a clinic with a very helpful lady who wrote a referral letter for my GP; it's been like 6+ months since that and I still have no idea what ever came of it. It definitely got sent to my GP, though.

I've asked twice now and I get told it'll happen soon and then it doesn't happen. I know that Susan's doesn't allow talking about self-medding, but there isn't really another way to say it when it's the only significant thing that's been happening. Sorry for that anyway, though!

Time for a follow up phone call maybe? If you don't hear anything in a week, call again. Then again and again until you get a response. I know it can be unpleasant, and you'd think you shouldn't have to be the one doing it but all professionals are usually very busy, and clients fall through the cracks all the time and sadly it is often the squeaky wheel that gets the oil. Good luck!

Yeah, I was going to her constantly like twice a month until like 2 months ago when I just...gave up a bit after so long of being ignored, but I guess I should try again, thanks.

Yep, I've been on JSA for like 5 months now, I was due to move over to New Enterprise Allowance which is like a start-up business loan thing but they're making it as awkward as possible for me, saying that I might not be able to do it for another 6 months even though I'm due to be starting my business in a few weeks, even though they kept saying it was fine the entire time. And they didn't tell me otherwise until just after the New Year, so that's nice. :P

You read my reply to that other girls topic?

https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,156973.0.html

That outlines how the NHS route works. You specifically asked your GP to refer you to the GIC in London or wherever is the most local one for you? My GP did mess up though and it took me a few months longer than it should have to get referred. Maybe yours has too. You should definitely hassle him about it.

Whats your game your workin on anyway? I like me a few vidyagaems. ;)

edit:

Oh and I forgot, not to rub salt in the wound and stuff but the GIC wont like you being unemployed. In order to do "full time RLE" you need to be interacting with society and stuff. To them that means having a job or doing voluntary work or some other stuff. I have been unemployed a lot too so I know that first hand, since they mentioned it to me specifically. Being unemployed really sucks when your trying hard to get a job.

Thanks, that's helpful. I did ask, yeah, I requested being referred to London. Been 6 months since then and I've heard nothing even when I ask, it feels like I get brushed off.

I'm working on a retro shoot-em-up for Android and OUYA, kind of like the old CAVE games, with music from a local theatre musician. Just in the process of optimizing it and sorting out pixel art right now. :)

The lady I was meeting (I honestly have no idea what her job title was, I'm thinking therapist/psychiatrist?) suggested this, too. I'll be self-employed within the next week but as the job is primarily working from home, she suggested I find some voluntary work, which I'm more than happy to do once I have enough money to survive properly without worrying about it as it is.

I'm going to find out tomorrow if I'm still eligible for New Enterprise Allowance (which I was supposed to be starting on Friday, when my business is due to actually begin) so fingers crossed, I suppose!
