Been visiting and following for many years.  I am a 47 year old married with 2 boys 17 and 8. and having troubles hiding my true feelings.  I dressed from my early teens till I married in my mid 20's when I purged.  Dressed one year for Halloween and felt wonderful. trying to find a way to discuss this with the family I do not think the wife will be accepting.

Just wanted to say hello and thank you to all you girls for your support.

Hello Michelleinil, Welcome to Susan's. If you've been reading a while you know how this works. It is always nice to talk to others as well as read their posts, so glad you are here.

Talking with family is stressful and uncertain. I can't tell you what to do as what I did probably isn't the best idea.

Hi Michelle!  Welcome.

I have a family and found ways to cope with undiagnosed gender dysphoria for years.  These days, with my youngest in college, I just really need to start being the authentic me ... what ever that is!

Keep the lines of communication open.

A big warm welcome to the family baby! I can totally relate to you. I started transition at 47 (now 48) and have two kids as well, 15 and 16. My now ex wife knew before we were married that I had felt female since age 7 and said it didn't matter and I would have support. If you ever need to talk just PM me. I welcome all questions you might have about your new journey. Here is a BIG HUG ( :icon_hug:) to get your new journey started. :)

Broke down in a crying fit last night with the wife for about 45 minutes.  Discussed my depression and general unhappiness.  I did not go into the full cause of these issues, but I did leave some hints.  Going to look for a therapist next week.  Hope to discuss with the therapist before coming out.

A long journey begins with a single step.

Speaking with a therapist might focus your feelings and thoughts.  I'm not sure where you are located, but you can find therapists with "transsexual" expertise listed at PsychologyToday.com "find a therapist."

Lost it again today.  Was watching the early football game today and had another meltdown.  I was laying in bed in the fetal position crying.  Wife came in and I spilled my guts to her.  She now knows about my history of dressing in Jr. high till we got married.  Years ago she found some "stories" and we had a half hearted discussion, "I Lied."   :(

The good news is I am still in the house and she says we will get through this together, I hope so.  Feeling peaceful with a pair of panties on first time in too many years.

Tomorrow I call about an appointment and take the next step.  ;D
