Hi everyone!
So, pretty much as the subject says, I'm trying to work out what girl's styles and such will work on me (I've got a vague style as a guy, mostly consisting of "Buttom up shirt and long pants", complex I know :) ). I'm hoping that if I post a few pictures here then people will be able to give me some suggestions?
Sorry that's rather brief, it's rather early in the morning so I'm getting sleep-deprivation based rambling :)
If anyone has any style or makeup suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

PS: I know, I'm *terrible* at smiling
PPS: I don't have any images of my current hair, but it's light ash blonde, with a fringe and layered from my chin to mid shoulder blade

Random pictures!

These are the one's I like. You look happy and comfortable in them plus they fit you nicely. The beach picture I would consider getting different pants. They look either a little to tight around the waist or you should try higher waist pants. The one's your currently wearing seem to be causing a bit of a muffin top look. They might also be pushing some fat up and widening your waist a bit.  Remember the woman who knows she should wear a size 16 will look better than the one who should wear a size 10 but forces them self into a 6 or 8.

I would have included the one where your wearing a corset but you look uncomfortable and I honestly don't like that particular hairstyle. I think you look much better in the pictures where you have bangs. If you don't like bangs though, then don't get them.

For your style I feel it is the first two pictures that are the best. I honestly think that you could walk around without question in that first outfit and it just seems like the one that you are most comfortable in.

Hi Kitten!

The first two pics you look indistinguishable from a genetic female. And very cute! The others a bit less. I agree with Alexis, you should keep the bangs/fringe.

The first two are the closest to my current hairstyle (bangs, layers, light blonde), and the bangs are most definitely here to stay, I should have gotten them years ago :)
I wasn't uncomfortable in any of the outfits, but like I said, I'm terrible at smiling or 'looking natural' in posed photos, I have *no* clue how I pulled off that smile in the first pics, I can try smiling in front of a mirror but it always looks more like a grimace than a smile :(

Small amount of info on them, the first two pics are trying on a friend's halter neck corset, which I absolutely loved. Definitely plan to get one for myself once.. certain other things are done.
Third one is from a photo shoot a friend did with me. Gorgeous dress (I'll put up another image that shows it better), but gods I hate having my hair pulled back like that. That's pre-bangs.
Fourth is same photo shoot, but boy mode.
Fifth is me deciding to try for an androgynous look at a Burlesque outing with some friends, and rather.. overshooting. Silk shirts are cold!
The sixth one is a dress I had custom made for me, though it turned out more formal-ish than I'd originally intended. No idea why I've got the bangs parted there, possibly they were growing too long and getting into my eyes.
Seventh was on a trip with some friends, actually dressed in boy mode and going "I wonder how much of a difference it makes if I pose differently..." Apparently quite a bit :)
And the last is just a random hair shot.

Here's a better shot of the #3 dress:

The main thing with number 3 is I don't like poofy shoulders.  I personally think except for costumes and certain special occasions they shouldn't be worn. This is my own style though and you like them.

The beach I liked because it is a simple unisex style that I could see at a beach. I would definitely say get the same clothes from the women's section and you would be good.  Also its amazing what body language and posture can do for how people see you.

I really developed, and am still developing, my style through a mix of seeing what I liked that other people wore, starting simple  with a little bit of layering, and understanding color theory. I find that starting with simple styles for day to day wear so you can learn your basic body shape is best. Grab a few tops you like and some bottoms. It will give you a good wardrobe that you can start mixing and matching from. From there you can get more extravagant and start getting stuff for days you want to be more dressed up. Find what you like and then make it uniquely you so you develop your own style. It will be better than finding a style and trying to make yourself match it. It will probably end up similar to some style that is already out there, but it will be your own.

Edit: I just read your intro and that changes my advice some. My advice in principle still stands, but it was coming from a place of developing a wardrobe for eventual full-time.  Do you want distinctly separate male and female styles? Are you going to try for a more androgynous style that you only need to change one or two things to go back and forth? When more masculine presenting would you be fine being read as gay? All of these things will affect developing a style.

For me I'm wanting something quite distinct between the two, I'm not hugely interested in androgynous or being read as 'flamboyant' when in guy mode.
So two separate wardrobes :)

Oh, and as for picture #3, it's most definitely a costume piece, big puffy Southern Belle style gown :)

Ok in that case follow the above advice if you want day to day wear. That way on days you feel lazy but want to dress female you will have simple clothes for running to the store and lounging about the house.

If your going for only days where you want to be dressed up or are going out somewhere, than focus on outfits.  Depending on what you get it will be harder to mix and match to make other outfits, but you don't have to worry about having a variety of looks for each day.  You also don't need to worry about having practical clothing or shoes.

When it comes to style, only you can say what fits you. Anyone can dress as a goth, but for some it will be a costume and for others its an expression of themselves.  That difference will be noticed. You need to think about what you want to say when your dressed.  Think about who you are and what you want people to see when they look at you. Once you have that then people can give you advice on what within that style looks good for your body type.

For myself I have different styles depending on what I'm doing. There is work style, simple days, partying, dating, and formal occasions. Throughout all of them there are a few similarities that are based on my personality. I consider myself an artistic person, so I always try to make use of complimentary and clashing colors. I want to stand out a bit.  Last Thursday I wanted to look dark and appealing so I wore a black and purple dress with a spiderweb bodystocking and black boots. Today I was in a spring mood so I wore a white cardigan, purple top, blue and green long skirt, yellow tights and red heels. Over the weekend I was in a Tim Burton mood so I wore a white ruffled top, black lace blouse, black skirt with a lace ruffle, white and black tights, and red heels. On Sunday I was only running errands so I wore a green shirt,  white sweater only partially zipped up, and dark blue jeans. Throughout those outfits there is a theme of using colors and layers to make a multi level outfit. Even though they may seem very different they fit my goal of showing a sense of artistry through color.

From what you posted, you seem to already be developing a style involving corsets. There is a lot you can do with corsets and several different looks that can make use of them. Do a Google image search of corsets as outerwear. Also decide if you want to be known as the corset girl, or if it is just one tool in your clothing arsenal.

Hope that helps :)

Corsets are very awesome.
I also have a thing for knee high boots and floofy/flared skirts.
