Nice. How is it being trans and NOT having to work? That must be enjoyable. Also wow you must have seen lots of changes in the software industry during your tenure huh? That must be...weird? Satisfying? Relieved you don't hafta keep up anymore? Well just good on ya and thanks for the various software I sure use them and their successors a lot! **pats you on shoulder**  ;D

I get out and about a lot more now.  Social work, feminist activism, all sorts of things.  It's a lot more fun than working on a computer firewall, and probably more real benefit too.

hmm I guess I'm the odd ball.  I work in law enforcement as a Corrections Officer in a all male prison.  :police:  I'm kind of curious on how all the rapists and murders will handle my change... :o   lol

I Transport bacon, so I put transport. I really do want to get into a different field, driving a tractor trailer is about as boring as it gets tbh.

I always thought driving a big truck would be kinda fun. At least its just you out there! Honestly too, thank you for the bacon;I loooove it!  :icon_boogy:

Yeah, I bet lots of people retire and find themselves more involved in things they care about simply due to the increase in free-time. I will say activism and such is much more important; now you tear down walls instead of making them impenetrable (social wall vs firewall...you get what I mean.  ;))  Glad you're finally doing what you love though!

I'm a teacher, though I['m not a teacher because - ya know...

so where i actually work is retail - specifically, in the backroom at Walmart. The pay sucks but otherwise it's not a terrible job. also, there's an above average chance i'm going to score a promotion within the next couple of months.
Disclaimer: due to serious injury, most of my posts are made via Dragon Dictation which sometimes butchers grammar and mis-hears my words. I'm also too lazy to closely proof-read which means some of my comments will seem strange.

Some people love it, I get to sing my heart out (and I am a TERRIBLE singer) to the radio, and practice my voice as much as I want being alone all the time. The problem is I am not the sort of person who likes to be alone all the time, and I really have a bit of a passion for technology so I feel like I am wasting my time doing this. At least I deal only with finished product, not the trucks that actually haul the pigs (they smell soooo bad), not sure if I could work on that end of the production chain.

I'm a self employed programmer. Although I'd like to learn the design side of software and web design. I dabble but its something I've never really committed to.

I hate the idea of working for someone else, its just...unnatural to me. I like to be in control of my own destiny, and feel I can only do that if I get my way....sounds a bit selfish but I think in some situations you have to be.

Retired early from being a guitar technician/luthier/guitar dealer.

Now I'm a happy housewife.

My wife is a partner at a big LA law firm, so whatever money I made was "in the noise" anyway, especially after taxes.  Why work a job that pisses you off more often than not if you don't have to?

I may end up buying an existing business or two in the coming years.
