Hey Group,
I am wondering if any others have had these kind of results on HRT. On  hrt for one month now...
I am aware that some of the things felt are just the placebo effect so I am trying to be as heartfelt as I can in my observations.

I am not nearly as messy.. in fact I pick up after myself all the time...
I am calmer and more deliberate in my conversations with vendors and customers.. I seem to be listening better.
Its as if the volume of life was turned down.. I feel happy and connected to the world.
I have become a little bit immature..my wife got on to me for sitting like a kid at the  table so I have to watch my mannerisms ..
I think its the spiro calming me down not sure if E has anything to do with it at all.

If I drink, only takes a little bit and I feel it so I can not drink much at all.  We have a party to go to next week an my wife is worried about my mannerisms if I drink.. I get a little too happy...
In general I am able to concentrate on my job again.. I am getting twice as much work done... I don't seem to be so compulsive..
Take care kids,
Carrie

HRT indeed has a calming effect on some people, but at the same time it can make your emotions get from calm and all good to crying and mad at just a blink of an eye.

What I fell can be described as an effect of being more tuned with myself, having my brain working the way it should work.

It also changes the way your body metabolizes alcohol. Women are way weaker to alcohol than men and while on estrogen your body enzymes change to a female pattern...so you get drunk much easier.

These were also some of the effects I had after one month of HRT. The other were:

- Body odour changing to a more sweet-like smell;
- Skin getting softer and less oily;
- Libido going down the hill;
- Nipples getting puffy and painfull;

Natalia,
Thanks for the reply.. I did forget that my skin is no longer oily at all in fact using moisturizer for the first time in my life..and odor has changed.
Now I understand the drinking thing.. I don't drink very often but now when I do....its a whole different thing...
Yesterday, I got a little upset about my manly appearance and while driving got a little teary eyed and figured it must be the hormones so I fought it off.

Emily,
I am usually the life of the party so next week should be interesting.. I told my wife she would have to drive me home..but seriously I worry more about my liver while taking E and if I drink so I will tone it down.... a little.

Yeah, the alcohol issue is definitely amplified by HRT. Basically, it's twofold. Estrogen causes less alcohol to be broken down by the liver, thus you can't metabolize it as fast, plus Spiro dehydrates you because it's a diuretic, which means that less of the alcohol is diluted, and thus you start feeling it a bit faster. It only gets worse as HRT goes on, because your muscle mass will decrease and your fatty mass will increase, and alcohol can't be dissolved in fat, so more of it goes into your blood. So yeah... be careful. And make sure to drink plenty of water when you're drinking. I took one swig of wine while I was cooking about 7 months in, while I was feeling thirsty, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. Flushing, wooziness... I had to sit down for a while and let it pass. And that was after what was pretty much only about a quarter-glass of wine at the most.

The other effects, I'd say everything seems legit except for maybe the cleanliness part. Others do report it, but I personally think that's more primarily a function of the social expectations of femininity getting to people.

All of the calmness that you describe is DEFINITELY a hormonal effect, though. I don't know a single trans person who went on HRT who has not reported that they almost immediately felt calmer, more at peace with the world, more connected to it, and you feel like you're just going along with it instead of constantly at war with it. I remember these feelings all too well, and I can tell you that it only gets better the longer and longer you're on it. I'm still feeling that same feeling of peaceful contentedness a whopping year into it, and it's still truly amazing! And I too felt a bit like a little kid again right after starting HRT... looking at the world in wide-eyed wonderment again, a bit like "yeah, the sky is blue, but did you ever notice that the sky is BLUE?"

Have fun, from one Carrie to another! :)

I've only been on for a few days. So far I've noticed having to go to the bathroom more, my right breast has had a constant dull ache for the past day, pretty sure I was PMSing Sunday or at least I was acting like it (head was killing me and I didn't want to leave bed), I also think I lost some filtering from brain to mouth on what I'm feeling. I have been feeling calmer though and look forward to taking my spiro when I do. I'm wondering if some of these are related to starting off the bat right away with injections.
