Last month, the city council in Shreveport, Louisiana passed on a 6-1 vote an ordinance banning discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The lone dissenter was Councilman Ron Webb, who said just before the vote, "The Bible even tells you that homosexuals is [sic] an abomination."

But it was Pamela Raintree, a trans woman, who saved the day.
