So I'm in college.

new semester starts and this semester is all kind of hard because i'll be really starting transition. im planning on hormones in march maybe earlier.

some classes i am able to use my new name, Grey, and some i feel I can't, not yet. either i've had that professor int he past or there are too many people i know in there that im not really out to nor do i plan on getting chummy enough with to tell them. they'll figure it out eventually.

anywho.

I signed up for this class called gender and communication. thinking, alright maybe ill learn a thing or two, it interests me, what not.

I go in the first day, teacher doesn't call role. first he asks if anyone suspected him to be a woman. some said they were expecting some feminazi, he then proceeds to call role by last name, making each and every kid int he class tell him what they wanted to be called.

why can't every professor do this? is it really so hard?

he made it clear that this class was educational and tat male and female and man and woman are not the same and right off the bat let the class know gender and sex aren't the same. to keep in mind any of the above types of people could be int he room and to keep hurtful comments to themselves. big ol safe room. he friendly, none of the kids felt he was being unreasonable i think.

im gonna like this class. mmm.. what a nice atmosphere.

anywho i would also like some advice. I start T soon, changes aren't immediate no but eventually people do notice things like a voice drop, how do i go about letting people know i've changed my name to grey? or i dunno.. hwat are your experiences of transitioning in college?

Congratulations.
I asked my professors to call me by my chosen name last year and came out as trans to the people I wasn't already out to. Everyone was supportive and used the right name and pronouns. I hope people are as supportive for you.

That reminds me a lot of a professor I had who happened to be trans as well. Except he didn't ask everyone their preferred name, just me. :|
