Since I started transition, I have done my best to avoid vanity. Questions like, "Will HRT give me large boobs and hips?" or, "Will HRT soften my masculine face?" get asked all the time, and I fear getting caught up in that game. I fear I will be setting myself up for disappointment.

But...

You knew there would be a "But".

But...

OMG! Pampering myself is so much fun! Also, Oy! Pampering myself takes a LOT of time. I realize the time I spend will reduce as I get used to a routine, and the fun will fade over time. I realize I am not very good at being a female outwardly, I am quite butch, but only I know what I wear beneath my jeans and blouse or T-shirt... I am getting hooked on the daily feminine routine though, I love the new scents and fragrances of body lotions, scrubs and oils and what they do for my skin. I am really digging a loofah scrub or pumicing my hardened feet and toes until they are soft and rounded.

I have not dared pluck my eyebrows, and can not wait for my body hair to feminize (growth has slowed but it is still thick and dark).

Anyhoo, feel free to share your likes and dislikes of the beautification routine... tips you may have learned that others may not know... special things you may do for a night on the town and whatnot. I would love to learn more, now that this is becoming my new hobby.

:)

tweezers on eye brows very annoying , but they look good afterwards

The main two: shaving and applying the zillion skin care products I use. Don't get me wrong, I love my skin, it's like porcelain, but having to put on the same four creams and using the same wash everyday for years gets old fast.

exfoliating, sugar scrubs, clay masks, whole milk washes, green and black tea washes, witch hazel pour clenses, moisturizers, cocoa butter, peanut butter facials, conditioning hair with egg and olive oil, lemon juice for strong nails, tweezing, eppilating my legs

I'm an extremely vain creature, and I LOVE pampering my body

I don't have a routine I stick to. I moisturize when I think about it, sometimes. And I don't shave my legs much. The less time I take getting ready for anything is best for me.

On eyebrows, go and get them done the first time, then look after them yourself, once a week, get any hair that you don't want there and keep the shape.

also do this to keep them lifted.

you'll be shocked at how much it works and how much it adds to your face in helping you pass.

Face, spend the money and buy the right products, wash your face every 12 hours, so when you get up and when you go to bed.
Once a week, say a sunday night give yourself a light facial. Once every 6 weeks, go the big one.

ALWAYS wear sunscreen on your face, just buy a moisturiser with 30+ sunscreen in it.

every night, cleanse, tone & exfoliate.

I use an Epilady on my legs, bikini area & underarms every day. What I do/did is went and got waxed years ago, each day, I quickly go over my legs, most days I won't feel any hair being plucked, but every now & then I will, works a treat and I save $100's a year in shaving or waxing. Takes about 5 minutes pre-shower and I've never had an issue with in-grown hairs.

nails, no one is allowed to touch my feet, ask my ex who didn't know, went to give me a surprise foot rub and ended up with a broken nose, 2 black eyes & a deep cut to his head, all from a kick. I felt so bad but NO ONE touches my feet. Funny story was the police were called by the doctors because they thought I beat him up, I was even interviewed.
So I paint my nails once a week, most of the time on a Thursday to get ready for the weekend, never red (I hate red, it looks so trashy and 70's), my fingers I do a lot, almost everyday.

When I have a bath, I use bath bombs, bubbles, bath salts and epsom salts. you'll jump out with skin like a baby.

every time you shower, use a body wash that cleanses and then a body lotion afterwards.

At night, I'll put a deep moisture lotion on my feet (it doesn't feel good going on) and put a pair of socks on, my feet in the morning are always soft.

The video is hokey, and I felt and looked stupid doing it, but that exercise worked and it worked fast!

Great tip.

Added to my routine!

I do it every morning, about 5 reps before getting up & every night as I'm watching TV, again about 5 reps. works a treat!

I'm already beautiful (OK, so a lot of that is inner beauty, but it still counts), so I don't tend to want to "beautify". Unfortunately all my morning energy is taken up with a "passing" routine, where I shave my whiskers, shovel on the makeup, wig, etc.

Pampering for me means giving myself time to unwind and read, feeding myself food I love, etc.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

I used to shave my legs but probably due to age and long time on HRT it doesn't grow back any longer. I do underarms once or twice a week just for drill, but I'm fortunate to not have body hair other than pubic and I mow that occasionally when it gets scruffy. My big thing is daily moisturizing after showering, it seems that HRT produces some skin dryness. I use Clinique "All about eyes" under my eyes at night to keep them looking youthful and not all wrinkled.

Im with you, I love the routine, albeit some of it is a pain in my royal ass; but I love it.

What i really enjoy doing is planning my outfit, shaping my nails and getting mani/pedicures, waxing my eyebrows, and I LOVE doing my makeup! Spraying perfume ^_^

The things I hate though: Shaving my entire body, not a huge fan of moisturizing but i do it anyway, wearing lip gloss (its the only thing i can wear right now that doesnt accentuate my shadow or my masculine features, but I like the way I look in it.. just not the sticky mess it creates). And the one thing i hate about doing my makeup is applying Mascara... not because i dont like wearing mascara, i love it, but because if I ->-bleeped-<- it up or of I blink, it goes all over my eye and I try to dab it away but it spreads and then i have to wipe my entire eye and start over >_< so frustrating.

Truthfully though, I love it all, even the pain in the ass parts.

I am not a fan of the body shave. When I started, I almost gave Robin Williams a run for his money. My chest hair is the most annoying as there is nothing feminine about shaving my buds, or growing stubble there. I really hope my belly becomes a muffin top soon, shaving under the gut is nick and cut paradise.

Actually, it isn't that bad, if I ignore the future expense of hair removal, and well, hair addition or wigs.

It is just feels expensive buying everything the first time all at once. Maintaining it should be much cheaper. Buying in bulk is helping me long term... even buying some cheap stuff in bulk while I search for better products for my skin/hair type.

Initially when I had the girl help me out at the makeup kiosk I think I bought about $250 worth of crap most of which ended up in the trash since I found out that less is better and no-one needs all that crap troweled on their face unless they are in the circus. One thing that's important to know about makeup is that it can become a petrie dish for all kinds of bacteria and the stuff we use around the eyes should be discarded periodically and replaced unless we want to take a chance on a serious eye infection. The pretty little actress Sandy Duncan has one glass eye now because her mascara went bad on her.

^^^ this  :-* :-*  because I've waited soooo many years to start doing it everyday and not just alone by myself. Its worth the headache being able to be myself now.  ;)

I try to blend in with other woman...

I have a basic look for the everyday.. Wear some eye makeup, mascara, eye shadow and eye liner. I wear lipstick too with a bit of color on my cheeks.. This takes me about 10 minutes to apply. I dont wear huge amounts of makeup for every day life. Most Woman don't wear large amounts of makeup everyday. When we go out at night then more makeup is worn

I shave my legs 2 to 3 times a week, I had stubble on my legs and cream is applied daily. I hate applying cream.. but its a need as shaving your legs can dry them out.

MY pits are shaved once a week, unless I am going somewhere or I wear a sleeveless outfit.. then I may do it more than once a week.

My pubic region is shaved twice a week

I lasered the hair off my arms, chest and face.. I hated that.. but I am glad I did it.

I paint my finger nails at least twice a week, but that also depends how much I damage the nail polish. My toes I paint maybe every 2 weeks.. The nail polish seems to last much longer, but my toes don't get as damaged as my fingers. I love painting my nails.

Enjoying ride the hormones are giving me... finally becoming the woman I always knew I was
