I am not even there yet but after my first therapist appointment that is the direction it looks to be going. I am not looking for advise just looking for people that may have been taking 1 or more of the drugs I am currently on for pain. My goal is to be off if the pain meds completely with in the next year. I was in a car accident in 1998, after 23 years of no pain meds the pain was to much and I was forced to start taking pain meds. I am also on antidepressants but they are not for depression. I am currently taking cymbalta for pain. It keeps the pain at a certain level and with out it my pain would be higher and I would be taking more narcotics. (Which I hate!!) Cymbalta is an anti depressant and it does keep my mood way better than it used to be. I take trazadone for sleep and it is also a anti depressant. It puts me to sleep in 15 min. I take oxycontin for the pain that is left over and I take vicodin for the break through pain. Which is more often than not. So I was just wondering if anybody was or is taking any of these and if there were any affects on their hrt.

On reason I love my therapist is that she said we are going to explore some ways to reduce my pain so I can lower my pain med intake or eliminate them completely. That would be awesome.

opiate painkillers compete for the cytochrome p450 enzymes in the liver that also metabolize sex hormones.....so does trazadone......so, your liver will be working pretty hard.....it will certainly slow down the rate at which it can handle your HRT medication(s), and your hormones will slow the breakdown of opiate painkillers and trazadone.  I'd be watching out for a possible toxic buildups of all those substances, and steer clear of grapefruits and grapefruit juice, as well as pommegranite and seville oranges, as they all further inhibit the cytochrome p450 enzymes.

That is good info to know. Thank you. My goal is to be off most or all of them by the time I hit the hrt roller coaster. Trazadone will be the first to go I am weening myself if it right now.
