I am considering erbium laser facial peeling. Today I had a consultation about it and the expected end result is very smooth skin and  perfect even complexion. I think I am sold into it but I would like to know if anybody has any experience or any opinion about it.

I didn't do it yet. I have a scar on my forehead from surgery and I think to try it out first on that one. I have the procedure booked on the next Wednesday and I will see how do I react on it. If everything goes smooth I will have my entire face done next.

BTW I like your username ;) A good way of life ;)

Thank you. It's a true saying keeps my identity a little hidden. I can't wait to find out how this goes for you :)

I will let you know how it goes next week :)

I had it done today and it went okay. There was no pain, they used topical anesthetic, after the procedure there was some feeling like sun burn and by now it only feels tender when I touch it. The treated skin is very red and I can already see some improvement even though it is early to judge the results. Having the next treatment on the 12th of the next month, and if everything is okay I will have the all face done next.

So what is the end result you expect from this treatment?

Thank you Isabel
Vicky, I am treating a scar on my forehead now, and it is expected that the scar will fade away. With a full facial treatment it is expected to get perfect even complexion and to rejuvenate. I only had it done over the scar in order to see how do I react on it and I can tell you I look like I have a red mark on my forehead. I can imagine what will my entire face look like once I get it all done. I hope the results will be worth it all.

I've never heard of erbium laser. Is it something like fractional laser? If you heard about that.. Fractional is also for rejuvenating and treating scars.

Yes it is similar to fractional laser but erbium is much more advanced, less invasive and a big minus more expensive.... But they both do similar job.

Okay. I was looking into fractional laser for scars, but I read that after each treatment you need to stay out of the sun for three months. Is that the same for erbium?

With more invasive do you mean that fractional would give more skin reaction and redness or something?

Was your scar red(ish) before you had laser?

Yes, you must wear sun protection for 3 months after the treatment. Apparently fractional would give more skin reaction and redness and erbium would give less side effects and better results. I am not sure about the results of co2 laser and the redness but I really am red.
Yes the scar was reddish before the treatment and it was depressed and at few places hypertrophic so it is not the color that made me have the treatment but the shape of it that needs to improve. It is day 2 and it looks much better to me, but the redness looks like a seal on my forehead still.

I hope your redness will fade soon. It sounds annoying. Please keep us posted.

Thank you Yasmine :)
Today is day 3. The redness has subsided about 50%. The surface of the scar is way more even with the surface of the skin. I would say about 25- 30% improved. The skin has not started to peel yet. With a cover stick everything looks fine and I can function.
The first day it was painful like a sun burn, but the day 2 there was no pain. I hope the redness to fade soon.

It has been 72 hours from the treatment and the redness is almost gone and the skin is peeling. The results are even better. I think the erbium laser was a great choice so far.....

I'm glad. Sounds like it's def a great idea

Thanks ladies :)

Just a quick update. Today is day 5. The redness is gone, the skin has peeled, the scar has shrunk in size and it is way more even with the surface of the skin. It is expected to improve over the next few weeks.
