I've been on HRT for almost two years now, and I've decided it's time that I start looking to get FFS done. I have the money saved up, it's just a matter of choosing which surgeon to go with.

And boy, is that a doozy of a decision to make! I've looked at the websites of many of them, read dozens of individual threads on these forums, but it hasn't really helped at all beyond make me more indecisive. I live in the Chicagoland area, but am willing to travel.

When I look at my own face, I don't know exactly what I'd like done (aside from definitely getting the nose done), just that I'd like it changed up. What are the main talents or benefits behind each surgeon, what should I be looking for? It's such a difficult and important decision, I worry so much over choosing right!

It is your surgery and you must decide. When I was choosing my doctor I looked at many before and after photos, I was researching the safety profile of different doctors and then I decided. The trick is to find one who will meet your individual needs and expectations. That is why it is impossible for me to recommend you a doctor. You can consult many FFS doctors for free via internet, see what can they do for your specific situation and then decide.

Hey  :) I can speak from my own experience with FFS. I had FFS with Dr. Ousterhout (Forehead III/Rhinoplasty) and he is aggressive but in my opinion this is positive as we are technically born Male. He is expensive anywhere form 30,000-50,000 US. Your choice of surgeon is totally yours to make.

I can offer you some advice:

1. DO YOUR RESEARCH, look at as many before and afters as possible, read as many personal FFS experiences as possible, establish your taste and preferences.

2. DO NOT CHOOSE A SURGEON BASED ON PRICE, although cost is a huge factor, this is your face. It is the first thing people will see and greatly impacts your passability.

3. GO TO CONSULTATIONS, meet the surgeon in person, trust your gut, question them (Safety, Surgical Technique, Experience, Complications,Worries) Emphasize what you are expecting to achieve through FFS.

You are a composite of all the things you believe, and all the places you believe you can go. Your past does not define you. You can step out of your history and create a new day for yourself. Even if the entire culture is saying, "You can't." Even if every single possible bad thing that can happen to you does. You can keep going forward.
