New to posting here, but have read many helpful threads in the past on my worst day. I am joining and reaching out today, because I am having a really hard time. I am married with kids (young family) and identify as male.

I have a younger (mtf) sister who I love very much, and knows this about me. Very few people in this world know the whole truth, but my husband is super supportive, just doesn't know how to help most days.

I feel so trapped where I am at. Scared to do anything.

I was hospitalized recently for suicidal ideation, my admission of gender identity was not met well there. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, given a prescription and some good coping techniques... but I am not doing well today. At home.

I am really struggling to function.

Anyways, this is me, joining a community, and reaching out.
Thank you for this community, and its support.
Can't wait to meet you all.

Hello Elijah and welcome to Susan's. Are you seeing a gender therapist?
Perhaps, you can get a clearer picture of your situation.

Not quite yet, I do have a fabulous therapist who knows, and is very supporting.
I still have a hard time opening up about everything though. I feel stupid for a lot of thought-patterns I get trapped in.

Hi Elijah and welcome to Susan's! Really glad that you've stopped in and decided to start posting. Maybe we can now start helping you out.  :)

It's nice to hear that you husband is supportive. My psychiatrist felt that I am bipolar and put me on medication for that. You can check out my past posts for info.  I'm sorry to hear about your recent hospitalizion.  :(

I agree with Gennee, that you should find a gender therapist and spend some time with him/her to get a clearer picture of the situation. I've been eleven months with mine, and he's 100% behind me and he's very understanding, but I've been through many others that didn't have a clue. ???

Hi Elijah,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Just the fact you've decided to vent yourself here could be a good place to start off loading the enormous crushing weight you have on your shoulders at the moment. Don't be surprised if the diagnosis of bipolar is incorrect. Stress, anxiety and the plethora of sub categories can often lead to a misdiagnosis. Take your time in coming to terms with yourself, and don't worry about any one else for the moment. You may be surprised at the clarity of vision you get from that concept.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

A big warm welcome to the family! :) I am so glad you joined us finally and as you probably already know if it is support you are looking for, this is the place. Here is a BIG HUG ( :icon_hug:) to welcome you to the fold. :) My therapist told me that some of the symptoms you talked about, and I had, are products of Gender Dysphoria. Mine have totally gone away and I am having a happy life for the first time now. I hope yours will help you too. PS-My kids were more accepting of my decision than most adults as they are very resilient and don't judge. I hope thing work the same for you.
