Okay, they were pumps and I'm a size 11 wide. I sent my wife WAY outside her comfort zone. Kinda thought she'd be on the other side of the store when I was walking around in them but I rounded the corner, she saw that I was about 3" taller, looked down and kinda gave an audible sigh and walked away.

I really wish I had her acceptance. I feel as though she's disgusted by me. Maybe she likes just plain Mike with his geek tees, blue jeans and whatever socks I like wearing Dr. Martens' boots and stuff.

Oh well. At least I know I can walk in heels without breaking my ankle and/or neck.

Didn't buy the shoes but I did pick up a pair of the most dreamy tights! They're soooo comfy!

I can actually walk on even 15 cm heels...

I wont do it in public though cause when I wear that kind of shoes I go up to 1.95 cm tall looking like a basketball player

a 2cm heel is ok ...

and dont worry btw Im sure your wife will accept you , it just needs a bit of time...

Thanks, everyone!

I tried more at Target tonight. Pumps and flat. They all felt wonderful if not a bit constricting with the pumps. The kind with the spiky heels were the most constrictive but the flat-heeled pumps were more comfortable and the flats were like walking on air. They're like the shoes I'd like to bum around in like, all the time.

The first time, earlier today, I told the sales associate woman that I recently came out to myself as a crossdresser and she gave me a nice pat on the shoulder and said, "good for you!" Felt good. Felt empowered.

If you buy some heels, make sure to pick up a variety of the inserts while you're in the store. Get the ball of foot pads, the ones that go on the back of your heels, toe ones, etc. After you wear them for a few hours, you'll notice where it starts to hurt, so just put the pads in. Also, when getting tall heels without any padding, just get the shoe a wee bit bigger so there's room for the ball of foot pad.

Be careful on city streets though! True story: a professor I had only wears stillettos; she was walking on the street to hail a cab, and her heel got caught in a sewer grate. She tripped and landed on the taxi's hood. The cabbie speed off and she feel on the ground. She ended up in the hospital with a neck injury. :( (She's fine now).

That's a great sign. :)

I played it safe and went with chunky heel Mary Janes - safer for all around me!  :o

That is one talent I never mastered, better yet, don't want to. I'm glad you were able to do it though. The pat on the back from the salesperson must have felt great.

I was told by an orthopedic surgeon that high heels were designed so that they can afford Ferrari's.

True!

I find that the platform base is the most comfortable heels to wear. doesn't mater if they are stlito , stack or wedge.  4 in is my max height

I have never had any problems at all wearing heels. I can walk, dance & party in them all night. My sister can barely last 5 minutes before she has slipped hers off, so it can't simply be a gender thing.

The difference may be the dressing up experience. When I wear high heels, it's not done casually.

My toe nails are painted, my legs are shaved, I slip on new stockings with lace tops and secure them to my figure-hugging 6 strap suspender belt. Then on go my heels and my bra, and I start my makeup. By the time I have made up and put my frock and jewellery on, I have been balancing on my heels for an hour or more.

I have been so concerned about my bust and lips, that I take my shoes for granted. Don't forget that I have suffered discomfort all afternoon from my hair depilator and breast pumps, so pinching shoes are nothing. Fashion is pain!

I also never had on problems walking in heels. I wear them for long periods..

It was difficult when I first started wearing heels, but I learnt how to walk in them... its practice.

Females have told me, it like I have being wearing them all my life... that how comfortable I seem in them.
Enjoying ride the hormones are giving me... finally becoming the woman I always knew I was

Well, there's walking and then there's walking.  I can walk in them without breaking an ankle (so far at least) and with a degree of comfort.  (For comfort I'll take my trainers any day.)  The other walking is more difficult to assess.  I have practiced and will continue to do so, but I am not sure I would convince anyone that I am a female by the nature of my walking in general and my walking in heels in particular.  I have to keep reminding myself that women didn't learn to walk in heels the first time they put them on, but getting the walk absolutely right is a challenge.  It is so easy to fall into the trap of overdoing the walk that it draws attention to itself in a negative way.

I love how they make my body move, sexy even at my age. Watch out Michelle they are very addictive. So addictive you may turn to the dark side some day.*giggles* ;D

"Watch your heels young Luke, for they are the path to the dark side"! - Yodette

"Now that is heel racing!" - Annette Skywalker

"Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good pair of stiletto's on your feet"! Hangela Solo

That's really cool! :) I personally prefer the full heels that cover the entire bottom of the shoes, but that's my preference.

Maybe you should check this out on the internet: "7 tips on how to walk in High Heels." It'll give you some constructive points.

That's great! The first time I put on heels it was as if I'd worn them all my life.

For me 2.5-3 inches are the most comfortable while accentuating my leg lines very well. Yes. 4 in is my max, too. More than 4 inch causes pain in my toes.

Just do it.

I love to walk in heels it is so natural for me. The six inch pumps I reserve for bedroom fun, they look great with thigh hi stockings
             and a garter belt.
