Hi girls,

I've been having electrolysis for quite a few months and the hair is getting fairly thinned out all over my face.

However, I currently have a very obvious break/line where the hair stops (from my ear to my mouth parallel to my jawline) Before electrolysis it was more gradual.

Anyway, I'm just looking for any makeup tips/products to help me disguise this as although the electrolysis is working well, the obviousness of this 'beard starts here' bit is, for the time being, making me less passable than before!

I would think any good foundation sholud take care of that.
However, that raises another question. If the line is that visible the hairs must be fairly dark, in which case some laser might be in order. I'm having electrolysis to get the light hairs that laser wont touch but because they're light they are also not visible or cause a shadow. i only feel them.

Thanks CB. It still seems really obvious to me even with foundation, but it could be me imagining it worse than it really is. I'm probably too self critical.

Well, my electrologist (who also does laser) thinks it's too light to laser. I think it may be close to being auburn. Anyway, it looks dark relative to my skin tone (I'm kind of pale after the winter)

I'm sure it'll improve with more electro anyway. I'm really happy with the bits she's already cleared :)

Well, my electrologist (who also does laser) thinks it's too light to laser.

Maybe she had some experience with laser back when it was more limited. But with the variety of YAG, Alexandrite and Diode lasers available now, almost any combination of hair and skin is treatable now. As long as the hair has some brown/black pigment, and your skin is lighter than it, there's going to be an option.

I've had laser over my entire body over the years with all 3 different lasers and I'm super happy with the permanent results.  The only electrolysis I needed was to shape my eyebrows and for a few funny white hairs.  Sadly electrolysis is incredibly slow, painful, expensive and embarrassing (you have to grow your hairs out, ugh) compared to laser.

In the meantime makeup can go a long way.  Look on youtube for shadow coverage tutorials, which show you how to use warm/orange/rose/pink color corrections (like Ben Nye Duracover) under your concealer/foundation.  In general I like Lisa Eldridge's makeup artist tips:

I think we all can be too self critical! One trap I fell into when peering in the mirror was imaging there was still some shadow arround the mouth. There wasn't and what I was seeing was the pores. In certain light conditions they appear almost dark. So that may be factoring into what you see perhaps?

Thank you both :)

mfox, I was almost going to post yesterday to ask for makeup tutorials, but you've saved me the trouble.

Also, it sounds like I might have written off laser too quickly. I think maybe I'll do some more research. When I started electrolysis, I was just really desparate to start hair removal (of any kind!) Elecro is going ok, but, yes, it is slow and a bit ouchy.

CB, you could be right. I think I might have fallen into the "If i stand directly under a 100watt dayglo bulb with my head tilted at 3.5 degrees, I can see a shadow" trap

Best wishes to you both,

Sarah
