How soon could I get SRS?

Long story short, I'm in a relationship where we expected "waiting for my surgery" to not be such an issue, but lately it's becoming quite an issue for us both...

I've contacted a surgeon, but even her soonest consultation date she could schedule me for is in August, not even mentioning the actual surgery date.

Is it like this for all surgeons? I found that to be confusing as a consultation could mean a simple 30 minute sit down. My FFS consultation (next week  :)) was scheduled 2 weeks in advance.

I don't want this to be misunderstood in that I want to rush things, I really don't. I'd like to have the best surgery possible, but also as soon as possible... I'm pretty sure I meet all the criteria, multiple letters of recommendation, living female, etc.

What have your timelines looked like? How long did consultation scheduling, then setting a surgery date take?

If you meet all the criteria and are otherwise ready... basically it's down to a given surgeon's waiting list, plus at least some will let you "fly standby," agreeing to take any cancellation slot that comes up earlier. So it sounds like what you want to do is shop around to your shortlist seeing who is able to fit you in soonest.

I actually was attempting to get a date for close to a year later regardless of the surgeon's waiting list, because of work obligations. But I was offered a date six months away at the time, and I hear Brassard is now scheduling more like four months out. (Brassard was also willing to do the consultation the day of the surgery for someone traveling from far enough away; his paperwork didn't say so, but the office then *recommended* it when I told them I was coming from a different country.) So, basically, if I contacted Brassard today - apparently I'd be able to just show up in about four months. :)

Last I heard Kathy Rumer's waiting list was basically nonexistent, too, but that might have changed as she's gained popularity. (I had a friend who was given her pick of dates starting the week after she called, two years ago.)

Kathy Rumer gave me a surgery date over the phone. Dr. McGinn wouldn't even talk to me until I waited 5 months for an in-person consultation. So surgeons vary.

I know he still does the show up and consultation. I just was there last month with a girl that traveled from Alberta. As long as your papers are in order and you pass all the medical requirements you could be good to go.

Yes he is at around the 4 month mark. I had mine 11 months ago and my wait time was 3 months but being i live in Montreal i only had to wait 2 months due to a cancellation.

Teeg, I meet all the WPATH criteria (In fact here at the London GIC they require 2 years RLE which I've done).

Most surgeons (Based on those I've approached) require two "Standard WPATH" letters of recommendation.  I am not able to get a date scheduled without these so at present it is likely to delay my date by however long it takes them to be written.  It might be worth considering getting them done even before you've closed on a surgeon to avoid introducing any additional delays (Perhaps some other girls have a point of view on this?)

At present I'm likely to go with Dr Brassard who seems to running at 4 months ... I've been able to arrange a pre-op Skype consult within a couple of weeks based on my surgery referral letters from my GIC (But require the two WPATH letters to schedule a surgery date), I gather that Dr Bowers is closer to 12 months.  Dr Supporn I believe has a few slots end July and then running into aug/sep.

Some surgeons require/suggest pre-op genital hair removal, others not ... and this can take months.

Hope this helps :)
