Here is how I lost 100lbs (45kg or so) a few years ago - I am not a doctor, or a nutritionist, or anything like that. This is just what I did and what worked for me:

For diet-
I cut carbs to below 50g a day. Cut sweets, sodas, candies, sugars, etc.
I stuck between 700 and 1400 calories a day.
Have a cheat day once a week where you eat whatever you want, and how much you want. This helps your body stay in fat burning mode.

Exercise -
I do calisthenics.
Here's how I do them: Find a 3 story or larger staircase. At the top, do 10 pushups off the railing, or some sort of ledge or surface you can use (i.e. low intensity pushup. important to not do regular pushups). Go to the bottom. Do a 30 second wall sit. Go back up, rinse and repeat for an hour and 15 minutes. Do this at least 3 times a week.

I myself now do a 2 minute wall sit at the bottom. As you do the workout more, over time, up the intensity as your endurance increases, to continue getting results.

It's good for burning fat without building much muscle, while upping your endurance.

When I lost weight I ate whatever I wanted but I counted and limited calories, and anything over the target would have to be worked off.... You stop going over because it takes like an hour walking just to burn off one small hamburger, that you can eat in 30 seconds.

I do however still exercise even when I am below my calorie limits.
15 years on Susans, where has all the time gone?

I have an exercise bike. I ride four times a week for 40 minutes. It keeps me thin and helps me control my appetite.

Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Ahhh! I think that's what I need. I've been low carb for almost 10 years and I dropped a good 30lbs right away. Recently, my metabolism has almost completly stopped it seems. So, I've been trying something called bulletproof coffee, which has yet to do the trick. It's part of a "keto" diet, which is supposed to be high in fat and low carb. I've hit a plateau though.  :-\
"There was a sculptor, and he found this stone, a special stone. He dragged it home and he worked on it for months, until he finally finished. When he was ready he showed it to his friends and they said he had created a great statue. And the sculptor said he hadn't created anything, the statue was always there, he just cleared away the small peices." Rambo III

The lower your weight is, compared to your body size, the harder it gets to lose more. Of the 100 pounds I lost a few years ago, the last 20 was the hardest. I had to up the intensity of my workouts and cut even more calories, but it was still slower than before. It takes more time and effort but it's worth it to get really fit.
