I want to play my part in having more cute and happy posts on this forum. This is sort of a continuation of a thread about the guy I've been dating. If you want more of a history you can read this thread:
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,160135.0.htmlSo he's been reading a lot since he found out I'm trans. Today he left me a cute voicemail that ended with him reading from his notebook a quote that he got from Amy Bloom's "Normal," a book about various gender-variant people. I'm ashamed to say I haven't read it so he might end up being better-informed than me! Anyway, it says:
"A great many people, sick of news from the margins, worn out by the sand shifting beneath their assumptions, like to imagine Nature as a sweet, simple voice: tulips in spring, Vermont's leaves falling in autumn. Nature is more like Aretha Franklin: vast, magnificent, capricious, occasionally hilarious, and infinitely varied."
Then later he wrote me an e-mail that said: "Aretha > tulips. xo J".
I'm totally falling for this one. Hope we come out okay on the other side.
