Is it weird?

Haha. What a way to start a post... but it's a question that I wanted to ask: am I strange for wanting to socially engage with my husband's new girlfriends? He is a CD.

We used to only interact with my friends as most of his were online. I am super happy that he's off-line and getting out in the world meeting new people and doing the social butterfly thing. It's just that much like when I introduce him to my friends, I would like to be introduced to his? Does this make me intrusive? I don't want to infringe on his new activities, but I would like to interact with his new support system he's building.  Granted, I am a bit more outgoing than he is, I just don't want to push too far. Wrecking ball and all that. I suppose this is more of a relationship question than anything else... thanks for your input!

I don't see anything to feel weird about. I would think he would want you to be a part of his life and meet his supporters or new friends. Only my opinion though. I would think it a bit weird if he DOESN"T want you to be a part of it.

It is only fair to know the friends of the one you are with. The way I always looked at it, if I want to be as close as possible to someone I have to have at least some involvement with that persons friends too, it can't always be just my own friends.

I can't really explain how reassured I would feel if I got the chance to get to know everyone. I do sort of think that this might be just a relationship thing rather than a CD thing. New friends are usually a good thing!

Thanks for the replies!

Sayra, though it is common for spouses to have different circles of friends, it is also necessary to have friends in common.

My wife never wanted to play on the co-ed softball team, but she would come to the games and watch and socialize.  (Probably to keep me out of trouble!)

And I know my wife's teacher friends, but I don't often do open houses and the like.  I will cook/bake for fundraisers though.  :)

Hey Jamie, I think that might have been what we were missing before. He hasn't really had friends before this that weren't online. This is sort of new to me for that reason.

Thanks for your reply!
