When  I worked in Los Angeles, there was a woman there who had "thunder thighs."  They were like those of a linebacker in football.

When ever she walked down the hall, you could hear her pantlegs rubbing together.  It was unmistakable.

One time I made the mistake of saying, "(Her name), could you come here for a sec?" without seeing her.  She asked, "How did you know it was me?"

I had to be quick on my toes and fibbed I had just been in the hall.

On me it's the opposite. ??? As my hips widened, the gap has gotten bigger and bigger. :( I don't understand this obsession with thigh gaps neither. I hope i gain a lil bit of weight and it'll be less obvious. :)

That happened to me once. I was a bit fat at that time. I wore skinny jeans and my thighs clapped when I walked. That didn't feel good. After doing yoga & pilates now I can see like an inch gap between my thighs.

Thigh gaps are nice if for only the fact that you don't burn out jeans as quickly. That said, the older you get, the more your legs are going to accumulate fatty tissue so it's only something that you can do if you're young and/or live a lifestyle which has a whole lot of exercise and very few calories.

All this talk of thigh gaps and 29" waists makes me want to cry... Ugh. HRT has turned me into such a fatty  :(

It is new to me that some people are interested in thigh gap. I have never minded it. My preoccupation is always waist.

I saw some women having not only a wide thigh gap, but a very wide hip cap, and the wide hip gap did not seem to be attractive to my eyes. An example is:

My thigh gap is like:

Some people say a flaw in my body is that I have bow legs, but I do not care it so much.

Hey I am all for sacrificing to be thin, but I have my limits, with my body type if I am thin enough to have a thigh gap I am probably out of the realm of making sacrifices to be thin and into the realm of having an eating disorder.

That being said I am suddenly slightly more self conscious about my legs.

Genetically, transwomen will have greater success at keeping thigh gap if you can keep the weight off.

I wouldn't worry about thigh gap, many women don't have it.

Unless you transitioned early, or are genetically predisposed, there is a fine line between having a thigh gap and having no hips. Personally, hips win, hands down. Some thigh gap looks fine. I've seen some thigh gap that looks kinda alien, to say the least.

I have never had a thigh gap and I never will. I won't say that it's an impossible beauty standard, because plenty of women have them, but I don't think that anyone should feel badly about not having one. I think it's perfect okay to have standards and desires for your own body, but just make sure that they're realistic and attainable in a healthy way.

Barbie, you and I have a very similar body type ;)

I've noticed this thigh gap issue in the news a lot latley with people saying that too many girls are going to extremes to get this look.

The reason I have it is because I cannot touch my knees together when standing with my feet together.

I am more concerned with my nose.

I am more concerned about my hair (balding).  Amazing that society focuses on something that really isn't seen that much (and certainly would not be appreciated without nudity).  Must be that perfection from the neck up is rampant by those thigh-gappers and now they need some other way to compete.

Does GAP sell skinny jeans?   ;)

It requires some practice. When I was in military service, they requested it to me.

Speaking of thighs, I'm not sure how related this is, but when I was in high school marching band we were constantly being told to 'march' with one foot in front of the other.  I've been walking this way ever since and I notice that it tends to give me a natural roll to my hips.  When I stand I  definitely don't have a thigh gap but the lower part of my legs do seem to not come together.

I heard about this recently in the news myself, and all I can say is how did this become a thing. The impressions we push on our society is sad.....I suppose if we didn't go crazy over how we all looked then we would most likely be wearing bland clothing, not stylize our hair, probably smell....ah well you get my point, but still this seems outright silly...
