Hi all

I'm having SRS with Dr Chett on April 2.  I noticed the other day, the Dr's dilation recommendation is "at least a total of 2 hours per day for the first 2 years."

Is this a new thing. I was under the impression it tapered off much sooner...

Any thoughts, recommnedation, experiences..?

Cheers
Sarah

Sorry do not know Dr Chetts schedule.

I just want to say. Good luck and speedy recovery.

We will be sharing the same VJ Birthdate. My V will be 1 year April 2nd.

All i will say is aftercare is very time consuming.

Good luck!!

Wow, that is a lot. I'm down to 30 minutes - 15 minute sessions twice per week - as of about 14 months post-op. I can't imagine trying to fit in 2 hours per day for two years! Maybe he'll turn out to be more flexible about it than it sounds?

You will be fine, first week could (but may also not) be rough. You are allowed to use painkillers (both paracetamol and opioid are provided, just try not to overdose) so no worry and after few days You'll just get used to Your v-jay-jay clock.  :D

For what it's worth, the paper dilation instructions Chet gives are identical to that page on his site, except "for the first 2 years" and "do dilation everyday" are in an extra-large font. I'm only at a month post-op with him, myself, so I don't know if others have dialed back successfully before then and still retained depth, but I'd personally rather keep it safe and follow the instructions to the letter. Earlier Chet patients might have other experiences, however.

Chet's dilation schedule might differ radically from most other surgeons' because he uses the non-inversion technique, with different types of tissue that heal differently. While I understand Suporn's technique is also very similar, Suporn also prescribes a different, proprietary dilation technique "which is more effective and takes less time."
