so, i just started T last week.  today, i was supposed to see my endo again and they were gonna teach me how to give myself a shot and all that good stuff.
as im getting ready to leave today, my car won't start! yay, so fun.  tl;dr: it's a ->-bleeped-<- car, can't get it to start, and i had to reschedule my appt.

.... so, where can i go to get my shot?  i called the local next care urgent clinic thing and they said they couldn't do it there, and i don't know any nurses.  i'm afraid to do it myself and mess up, especially without anyone having properly trained me how to do it.

thoughts?

Stroheckers has instructions online for both subcutaneous and intramuscular injections:

If you have the T and syringes, there's really no reason why you can't do it yourself, it's not nearly as scary as you think. There are videos on youtube of guys explaining how to do an injection, just go through a few of them. I did my first injection by myself w/out anyone showing me, I just watched a few videos and then followed some written instructions. It went fine.

Is your doctor okay with you injecting yourself instead of rescheduling with them?
I feel like my doctor(s) would have been extremely critical of me if I did that.

well, i did reschedule for next week -- but i can't skip an injection, obviously.

i'm just really uncomfortable injecting myself with an expensive controlled substance without having had the change to ask my doc all the questions i have.  (i've heard some guys talk about bleeding excessively at the injection site, or even seeing some of the T/oil vehicle seep back out)

if it comes down to it i'll obviously need to do it myself. ... i'm just really nervous.  i'm a nervous person by nature.

I've never had excessive bleeding from the injection site, so I can say for sure obviously, but I think that if you didn't bleed a lot during your first injection and don't have any medical conditions that would make you prone to excessive bleeding, there's no real reason why that would happen. You should be okay, just hold the syringe steady as you're pressing down on the plunger.

As for having a little bit of the oil seep out, that's normal as far as I know.

If you're nervous, try putting some music on, that might help you calm down.

If you have someone who can actually put the needle in maybe that will help you. That's the hardest part for me but the actual injection is pretty easy.

I was really nervous but it went fine. I was shown how by another ftm and also watched youtube videos.  Yes sometimes there is bleeding but just put pressure on it and everything will be fine. It's no worse than getting blood drawn from a lab.

That's a bummer about your car not starting.

Can you call your doctor's office and ask about either injecting yourself or where you can go for the injection?

I would call your doctor and ask about self-injecting. You want the doctor to be on your side so I wouldn't go behind their back. You need them to write future prescriptions and other letters, so be considerate.
