I wanted to share a poem I wrote.

Edit: this site keeps replacing my subject header with an old one I already responded to (ie "A poem" gets replaced with "re: I'm having a breakdown..."). Super weird. This happening to anyone else?

Okay,
so I've been baring my soul to you fine ladies and gents for the better part of a month, and I figured it was time to share something a little more intimate, a little more personal. Of course, one option is that I could finally write the intro that I keep postponing (I promise I'll do it soon- it's just so hard to sum oneself up), but I'm going to postpone that a little longer. Instead, I want to share a poem I wrote a couple years back.

Now, I'm no poet, nor do I often get inspired to write in verse, but this one flowed out of me at the time, and I'm somewhat proud of it. I kind of think it perfectly reflects the journey of a trans person whose SO sticks with them throughout. At the time, however, the night symbolized her emotional (anger) issues. I seriously doubt that she will stick around through my personal night, ie my (gender) issues.

But, my baggage aside, here it is . Be kind, please. :)

WALK WITH ME, DARLING

Roses are red, violets are blue.
If you'll be my love, then I'll always be true.

Dahlias are black, and tulips are white.
Now take my hand, darling, let's walk through the night.

Hand in hand we will go, with the moon as our guide.
The shadows depart with you by my side.

Over mountains and streams, deserts, oceans and shores.
Walk along, darling, with my hand in yours.

The creatures of darkness, the bringers of fear
Will shrink from our love, and not dare come near.

The branches will scratch and the nettles will sting,
But we will be soothed by the love that we bring.

The wind it will howl, and the cold air will bite.
But our love will warm us till dawning's first light.

Times might get hard, and the path might get rough,
but having you right by my side is enough.

On we will walk, with the stars overhead.
On we will walk, though our feet feel like lead.

Though our muscles might tire, and our bodies grow sore,
With love in our hearts, we'll endure this and more.

The world and its troubles will put on quite a show,
But hold my hand tightly and never let go.

When dawn comes, we'll smile, our troubles all past.
We'll have made it together, with our love, at last.

Roses are red, like my beating heart.
Say that you love me, and that we'll never part.

And I'll do the same, just give me the sign.
I will always be true to you, love of mine.

Sincerely,
Tegan

Thank you. I just read it again and I'm crying a little. She won't stay the night. I already know this. I'm just starting to wrap my head around that.

Sorry.
