Hi all,

I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I found this site while researching FFS for myself. This seems like a great resource!

I also wanted to share that Dr. O will be retiring August 2014! I was so surprised as I'd finally saved up enough money, and was getting ready to contact his offices to schedule FFS:

Apparently he is referrring patients to Dr. Mayer in Beverly Hills. Thoughts?

Honestly, I doubt that Dr. O, who is the inventor and main defender of the forehead setback technique, would refer his pattients to a surgeon whose skills are limited to "shave" the frontal bone and seems to be proud of it.

Celia,

To be fair, this is what Mira told me on the phone when I asked if he was referring patients to another doctor. Does anyone else have any information on this?

Thanks.

Check out the Toby Mayer thread in this forum.  Jenny has posted tons of information on him and her dealings with him as well as pictures.  A few others have chimed in recently as well.  She kinda sold me on Dr Mayer.  I'm lucky being in socal, I went in for a face to face consult.  I thought it went well and that he was honest and actually said no to things.  He also said some things would give a minor change.  I just liked his demeanor and how he explained things. I ended up scheduling surgery for late june as a result.

I'm not saying he is perfect for you but you can't go wrong having a consult with him.  I'm a bit risk adverse so I'm happy with just shaving the orbitals, lifting the eyebrows and advancing the scalp.  I can barely feel the orbitals though and my forehead is not super manly.  I just couldnt see messing with huge parts of the skull like some of the doctors do. Sounds like you have the money so take your time and shop around.  There are quite a few doctors mentioned on here so I'm sure you will find a surgeon for your needs.

Khalysta,

Thanks so much. I will certainly check out the information you've recommended. I am surprised to hear that people like his bedside manner. I had my trachea shave done with him years ago, and also returned for a consult for a revision. He was alway really gruff and condescending, IMHO. Perhaps he has softened up a bit.
