Hi everyone
I wanted to get on DHT blockers specifically dutasteride. But I read that lowering your dht actually increases testastorone by 15%.  This really scared and confused me.  Any thought opinions much appreciated.

Yeah, I don't know the right numbers but it's clear that if you block conversion of T to DHT your level
of free circulating T should increase somehow. Hard to tell if that is so bad or not, since DHT in turn
should be more potent than T to activate T receptors.
I can just add (but please take it carefully...) that I had experimented with both Finasteride and Dutasteride
to fix some bad effects of adrenal T when post op, and I also had been taking then for long (7 months the former, 12 the latter) without ANY visible improvements - but this may well be a very personal and unique
case.

Just so you know, I was on Dutasteride, the strongest DHT blocker out there, for several months. And I still only had a T level of like 22 at my first post-HRT blood test.

Yes, it can increase levels of T compared to what they would be if you were just on T-blockers without DHT blockers, but I think personal genetics and susceptibility to T-blockers in the first place are a much bigger factor. It varies greatly from person to person. And since it really doesn't matter as long as your T levels get down into the female range, I wouldn't worry about it.

DHT blockers can be a big help if you've got hair loss or want some extra help getting rid of body hair.

I was using Avodart (dutasteride) and just before I started it, all my hormones were in female ranges (for more than 9 months). Short after, I made new blood test and my testosterone levels were raised up to the male range, so I immediately stopped the med and threw it away...

I have been of finasteride for 13 months and HRT for 10 months. My T when measured 2 times since on HRT was <20 and 24 ng/dl. My PA refused to co-prescribe dutasteride because he said I have no T to bock and I am on finasteride. Also, I am on oral estradiol which has ShBG so the t measured may be bound.
