Ok, well I never really thought that I would actually do this, post a pic, but w/e, here goes... (if this works lol)

My Halloween "costume". Hey I have horns and a tail, I can call it that!

This is after about 15 or so, if not longer, hours after I first put it on. So, how do I look? Am I fabulous? Passable one day? (Ignore facial hair, is a work in progress!) Pre-hrt still.

Went to a Halloween party as Death from Neil Gaiman's Sandman graphic novels. My first time out presenting as female--or, at least, a female character--in front a large group of people I interact with often at university but few of whom know I'm trans*. It went well.

OMG, you look amazing! Whatever you are doing, you are doing it right! Not familiar with the character sadly, but black is always good in my book. As someone who owns lots of black makeup and Tripp NYC  pants, I do like to the goth thing from time to time :)

I read your blog post which explains the background behind your outfit and your day at work, and I'm glad everything seemed to exceed your expectations.

Confidence is 90% of passing.  If you're comfortably dressing as female for 15 hours already in front of friends, co-workers, and family, then you're on the right track with your awesome "this is who I am" attitude, even if you're not out yet.

I don't see anything that would make me think HRT isn't going to be kind to you.  Your face doesn't stand out as having any overly-male features, the rest of your body is pretty slender and clothes seem to fit well.  Facial hair, we all have that problem - just keep lasering it away.  Eyebrows, we all have that problem too - start to think about thinning them down a little unless it's just bad shadow in the photo.  (Note to self . . . start to thin my own eyebrows down a little too.)  Start to grow your hair.  Boobs?  Not everyone likes (or needs) massive ones.

Devil costumes are always cute.

Thank you so much! Death is one of my favourite graphic-novel characters of all time, and I would recommend the Sandman novels to just about anyone--they're smart and cool all at once. I also love dressing all in black, with dark makeup, from time to time as well. When I was a teenager, I briefly identified as a goth, not because I was a particularly strong fan of gothic rock but rather because the movement gave me a free pass to wear makeup. I still have two pairs of Tripp pants and one skirt from those days! But it wasn't the look I wanted every day, and I didn't feel comfortable appropriating a musical subculture I didn't really identify with. So I only go for that look once in a while now. Of course, my mother thought I was under the Devil's influence when I brought home my first pair of baggy black pants with chains.

Thanks as well, Monica!

I think HRT will definitely have a good effect on you and that you will be passable once you 1) practice the look you want more and 2) gain confidence in yourself. As far as the facial hair goes, laser/electrolysis are always options if you can afford them. But until then, there are makeup tricks you can do. Before I began laser, I used the colour wheel method to conceal my bluish five o'clock shadow. This means (if you don't already know) that you shave as close to the grain as you can, and then you apply an orange or red colour over the areas on your face that have a noticeable beard shadow. I used an orange lipstick or orange eyeshadow. You dab it on over the areas, blend it out as best you can until the blue disappears and it just looks like you have a case of slight sunburn, and then you cover it up with your foundation. The foundation, if it is high-enough coverage, will completely hide the orange/red, and your beard shadow will be gone. It can take a while to get it to work perfectly, but it works. You can also try a full-coverage foundation by itself, without the orange/red concealing trick, but because you usually need to apply more to cover up the shadow, you run the risk of looking cakey unless you're careful. Dermablend Cover Creme and Mac Full-Coverage Foundation work very well to cover up shadow, and you can also build up other foundations to achieve the same effect, like MAC's Studio Sculpt or Studio Fix Fluid.

Here is a link to a video explaining the colour wheel trick for concealing 5 o'clock shadow, if you want to check it out. This YouTuber has lots of great makeup videos and tricks on their channel.

Sorry if you knew all that already--it just helped me a lot when I was also struggling with my facial hair showing.

Good luck!  :)

I scrapped doing real makeup since I was having a poor go at it, and fell back on Dias de los Muertos face paint. I had an awesome Halloween other than some bloody wet cold & windy weather. Forgive the wig, I was scrambling at the last min >_<

you need a lot of work. and maybe, a padded bra for boobs.

I know she asked, but kind of outright for the fabulous thread- don't you think?

Let's try to keep this on topic. The topic of feeling fabulous about oneself! If there is a need to discuss matters of passing and/or transitional work-to-be-done, we have a great thread for that right about here:
Do I Look, or Could I Pass, as Female? 3.0. And personally I see a very cute & budding female, just about ready to flower :) Not just saying that either, I think you're going to have something great going on. And on that note back to fab city plz! Thanks!

ugh antonia, what the heck. Beautiful lady! Just saw your pics in the HW thread and both times made me smile-sigh.

El Dudette I love the makeup. Really like your lacey wrap, too :) Jealous!

Well it was kind of a 2 for 1 deal for me. I thought I looked pretty fabulous so thought I might as well post here and figured, hey since I'm doing that, might as well ask that as well.

(Btw, did have a padded bra on as well. The girls at work actually complimented me about em, saying they looked real since they weren't huge. Phone and hands just in the way in that pic)

Sorry for the derail.

Great minds think alike!  :icon_mrhappy:  During the past year, I have become infatuated with the makeup and decided to do it this year no matter what. I may post pics of my whole dress later on, but for now, my avatar will have to do. Being Hispanic myself, the strange thing is I had never paid much attention to the Dia De Los Muertos holiday until recently.

When he was ready he showed it to his friends and they said he had created a great statue. And the sculptor said he hadn't created anything, the statue was always there, he just cleared away the small peices." Rambo III

Wasn't really offended, I did ask for it. Being super nice by saying I was 100% passable and hot would've been the same. A little more specific would've been better though. Next time though, cuz that question doesn't belong in this topic.

*HIGH FIVE*

After the fun I had this year I've been toying with the idea of doing Dias De Los Muertos again next year, but actually plan it better and go for more elaborate painting, and dressing a bit more to the 9's, instead of flying by the hem of my dress. ^_^

I think you just raised the bar for the rest of us by about 10ft :)

You look fantastic, mind if I ask at what age you started HRT?

You are so sweet Antonia! Thank you so much. I started HRT when i was 17. My results are really unremarkable when compared to many girls i know.  I looked like pure ->-bleeped-<- prior to my first complete FFS with Dr. Ousterhout in 2005. I might add that i have also had cheek implants since then and another complete FFS just this September 25th with Dr. Deschamps Braly and Dr. Ousterhout together again.  FYI, when i say "complete" FFS i am referring to what we in the community use to call the "works," which means forehead contouring, brow lift, scalp advance, rhinoplasty, brow shave, lip lift, jaw contouring, chin contouring, sliding genioplasty (in my case) and removal of my adams apple.  I had all of these procedures redone on 09/25/14 for further feminization but added a few procedures, including, permanent lip augmentation (dermis from my forehead was sutured into my upper lip), umbilical fat grafting, some acne depressions and sebaceous hyperplasias removed, hairline reshaped and neck tightened and liposuctioned. I will add that after my first FFS in 2005 i had to have a mini lift and some skin removed under my chin to firm up some elasticity that had developed due to the dramatic elevation of my chin. Developing a double chin as a result of dramatic FFS is a very common problem but is a small price to pay for a feminine face and is easily resolvable. I do have a scar from the skin removal.  I would love to show you before pics but they are quite embarrassing and unfortunately there are some floating around the internet.

Anyway, you look fantastic and i am sure you will look even better as your transition progresses. I wish you the best of luck.
