I recently got word that my health insurance covers gender confirmation surgeries - the only downside is that I have to have a therapist's letter in order for that to happen, despite having been on T for over a year already and living full time longer than that (and having all of my legal documentation, save for some federal paperwork, changed). Does anyone know of any therapists in the Twin Cities area with experience with trans people? I've been searching on my own, and am having a hard time finding anyone (though that may just be my Google-Fu being weak).

Also, how long do you have to go to therapy before you can get your letter? I suppose it depends on the therapist?

I went to Veronica for letter 1

and Simmie for letter 2

Janet I've also been to as she's in a different provider network but I'm not sure she's done a lot of letters. She used to work with Veronica.

Time to get letters probably depends on how sane you present D: (can guess a couple months on and off sessions). You might find in the googles University of Minnesota's trans* therapy program at PHS @ the west bank office tower. Run away from anyone suggesting there as you won't get letters for 18 months as their standard assessment time. Yes, you can find me on campus, usually at Coffman staring at the fireplace.
