are my shoulders wide?

I'm not sure if this should go in the main "Do I pass or could I pass someday?" thread, but I'm guessing it shouldn't, because in this thread I"m not asking either of those questions. What I wanted to ask about was, are my shoulders wide? I'm pretty sure they're wider than the average girl's, but are they enough to out me? And do they stand out? Is it immediately noticeable? This is something that I've just recently become aware of, but I know my tendency to blow things out of proportion (literally), so maybe it's just my imagination and no one is seeing it but me. But I also know that it might be that other people see it even more than I do. So does anyone think that my shoulders are particularly noticeably wide?

The picture quality isn't that great, but this is the best I can do for now. It's the only full body mirror in my house and unfortunately I don't have a high resolution camera beyond my camera phone. I think this is good enough to see the shape of my figure but if not then I can try again.

I'm not on hormones yet, by the way. I think my hips are fairly wide for a genetic male, and I hope they'll get wider to match the width of my shoulders. But just in case that doesn't happen, can someone help me out?

I think you look great!  HRT will blow off some muscle mass, and if you stay fit you will get a slighter, more girlish profile but still retain a glint of athleticism.  Pretty sexy girl.  I would kill for your hips

Give us numbers please - inches, cm - whichever way You fancy. Then I can tell You if they fall within average or higher female range.
But judging just from Your outline, Your shape looks good. Much better than my current shape, lol :).

Also, please consider that HRT will decrease Your shoulders and it might melt those muscles down quite drastically.
I was ~20 inches and it looked like this https://i.imgur.com/9RdgbuQ.jpg - now I am around 16.9 inches and I fall within upper female range. You seem to be a bit smaller already from Your start.

You went from ~20 inches to 16.9? That's amazing! I measured as liberally as I could, and they're 19 inches from edge to edge.

After hearing that, I'm very optimistic now! I'm really looking forward to seeing how HRT will work out for me! (my first appointment with my psychiatrist is tomorrow :)

Thank you so much! I always had a very feminine figure growing up, and was made fun of for it, so in college I started lifting weights every day and got really muscular. My greatest regret :( But I'm glad that it'll wear off with hormones :)

It's all about proportion; your shoulders are noticeably wider than your hips there, but that's what HRT is for. :) (I don't think they're linebacker wide or likely to get too much attention.)

I believe my shoulders started around 24" and are now 16", and my hips ended up several inches bigger too. Odds are that both will happen at least to some degree for you and the closer the two measurements get to "balance," the less wide your shoulders will look regardless of actual numbers.

Some people will lose muscle fast, but for others it may take a few years. I suspect shoulder muscles take longer to atrophy if you bulk up easily.
However your body has good balance and your shoulders do not look very broad.
This is ok, I guess.

I don't think your shoulders are exceptionally wide, nor do they stand out.  They look just fine and average.

Your shoulderwidth is average but you emphasise your shoulders with  a wrong style of dressing.

One tight garment and one loose one should work for you, but not both tight (or loose)

You look great already! Don't even worry about it :)

Just dress in whatever makes you feel comfortable. If that may be something that plays down your shoulders (and it makes you feel better) then you're doing it right!

There can be a lot of white lies floating around making sure people don't trigger, so it can be hard to trust opinions I know, but your shoulders look absolutely right for your frame and once hrt reduces your muscle mass you will have enviable feminine shoulders.  I am a professional sculptor.

The artist measure is to measure from your sternum top and bottom- this is the distance to the average shoulder socket from the top of sternum.  Your bang on- so not a wide shouldered individual.

One tip- the white bar that divides you horizontally is high- making a rectangle of your upper body that is wider than high.  This exaggerates your shoulder width.  Look for clothes which have triangular or square upper division and it will have the opposite effect.  I would avoid dresses with white side panels too- those are great for us tubby chicks but they do exaggerate shoulders too.  Trinny and suzannah books are handy for this kinda stuff.

Body... meet brain.  Now follow her lead and there will be no more trouble, you dig?

Thanks all for all the feedback!

I've actually realized over the past few days that it wasn't actually that my shoulders were wide, but it was the way I was carrying them. I always had them "forward", and that had the effect of not only making them look wider, but also put my arms in front of me rather than to my sides, which is a very masculine way to carry yourself (I knew a girl in high school who did the same thing, and even though she was tiny and was a gg, it still looked extremely masculine). So pulling them "back" so that my arms are to my side has actually made a huge difference in my overall presentation :)
