I have read where many of my brothers and sisters here have had a hard time finding a therapist and affording one, especially those without insurance. I consider myself fortunate to have not only found one who has experience with trans* folks, but in having good insurance coverage through work.

I am still nervous, still unsure exactly what to expect, but also a bit on cloud 9.

Just had to share, and for those of you still searching may fortune favor you soon!

An update...

I really think I picked the right therapist. He's very active in the trans* community, easy to talk to, and I feel comfortable. Well, comfortable as one can be in a first therapy appointment anyway.

Today was a lot of getting to know each other, but we dove into some stuff, and will of course continue next time. He doesn't do T referrals on the the first visit, usually the second or the third unless there are some things that need to be worked on. So I am looking at a likely timeline of getting the referral in 2 weeks......then the bloodwork etc and it's possible (fingers crossed) to be getting the first shot in a month.
