What did you all do with your Facebook accounts? I'm planning on coming out at work (which is almost my entire life) in a weeks time and don't really know what to do with my Facebook. I'm hoping to be as stealth as possible in the future, although for a long time some people will know because they've met me before, so there's a chance others will find out and go looking if they're interested enough.

Change the name, delete all evidence that I was my birth name and keep my current account. Means I get to keep connections with people at work which may come in useful, but there's also family and old friends that I don't talk to anymore on there.

Create a new account and risk losing a lot of connections for the future. I'm not really sure I can be bothered with that with the little amount I use it.

Delete it and be done with it. Very tempting, but again I'll lose contact with quite a lot of people.

You could always unfriend the people you aren't close to or in communication with. That's what I did before I came out on FB. Got an almost 100% Like response rate to my coming out post!

I used mine to come out to the general population of people I know, changed the name, gender and added a new profile pic with the comment of "Surprised?".  I didn't get a single negative reation (well, the mother of 2 of my nephews and 1 niece de-friended my, but I never really liked her much anyway).

The most difficult part was going through all the pics I'd been tagged in pre transition and hiding them from my timeline, took frigging ages!!

I'm not really bothered about being super stealth though, this definitely wouldn't be the right approach if you want to go stealth (though you can always make that switch down the line if you need too)

i'm trying to do this now, I'm slowly getting rid of people I don't talk to and have to delete and hide all old pics of me when I was in "fake girl mode"...not as easy as you would think, so many pics, I did change my profile pic to the one i'm using here and no one said anything negative, got a few likes, i changed the gender thing to hidden and made it gender neutral for now, so facebook will be like its their birthday today, instead of he or she, I also turned my facebook name to my nickname people usually call me, so I didn't have to keep seeing my obvious female legal name, its a slow process right now, I figured once I been on T for a couple months and can pass more, I'll end up changing the name and gender to male on facebook

I came out on Facebook... But I wasn't stealth beforehand because I couldn't pass. Once I became stealth, I deleted all evidence of a past life, lol.

I just made a new one. The old one is still there and I don't login to it. I only add people on my new one that "know".

I'm not planning on doing a "coming out" post or anything, I really don't use it enough to bother with that.  If I'm going to keep it I'm just planning to change my name and gender (it's already neutral).  The only people who are likely to notice are those at work, and I'm coming out to all of them at the end of the month, everyone else I've fallen completely out of contact with since leaving school.

I feel like it's too much of a hassle to be getting people to add a new one considering I rarely use it other than when people ask me to put photos up, or for work.  I suppose my options are keep it, or not bother with facebook at all.

I had to hack my account to make my gender neutral on Facebook, no one seemed to notice that it refers to me as "they". I have a masculine name already so will not be changing it. I have removed all feminine pictures of myself, but have kept some female pictures that showed the story of my life, because I don't want to go stealth, ever. I intend to change my gender to male once I come out to my parents this summer. Making it "Facebook Official" I suppose lol.

I never "came out" to anyone anywhere and certainly don't plan to either. When I first made my facebook account I simply put male even though some of the all the people I added thinks I am otherwise. No one asked or commented regarding this (so far).

Well, I wasn't on FB with my birth name/gender - so I created my first account with my male name and gender.  I added my family and people never honestly questioned it.  I think that, at first, some assumed I was using another identity to "hide" from people I didn't like - but as I posted photos of myself with facial hair, etc. they just started referring to me as my preferred name and male gender.  I had one cousin come out and tell me she always knew I was trans*, even as a little kid.  Funny how they all pretty much just went with it, no questions asked.

I'm planning on a public announcement on my facebook over summer since i still have to go back to my senior year for 5 months..but ill probably close the account and make a new one and not re adding 'everyone'.

I created a new page and sent out friend requests to those who are true friends and family. What's funny is I have about 10 times more friends now than before! Going to cancel the old one. Kind of a Facebook SRS!

I'm will be making an announcement on facebook at some point. I am waiting to talk to 1 more person directly. Facebook isn't that important to me and I'm not going to hide my past, so I'm not going to put a lot of effort in.

Came out on fb, loads were fine with it, some unfriended me but it their lost. And then made a new fb and told everyone to add me onto the new fb and I have been stealth on my new fb so all is good. As on my old one I have far to many pics as before and tagged in friends pics too ugh.

Which ever you what to do with your fb account, since you say you don't use it much just change it anyway. And if people don't like it there's a block button.

I just casually changed my gender on fb...and some people who know use female pronouns when they talk to me
old friends and stuff dont seem to even care at all...so thats good I guess...

I wonder what will happen when I post a picture of the new me XD

I have currently two facebooks. One with my birthname, and my new one with my new name. As i am coming out to people, I am adding them to my new account. As for people I meet, I am stealth so add them straight onto my new account. My old one is basically to keep in contact to people I am not yet out to

I have two Facebook accounts; one for my old self and one for my new self. I have no friends that are friends on both accounts to prevent accidental cross-pollination since I have not finished transitioning. Once that is done the old Facebook account will go dormant: I won't post my new status and picture there because there are lots of people that won't understand.
