For those who got their genders changed legally in either driver's license or state IDs, do you get to keep the older card that has your older gender on for your records or do they take that from you?
I am male because I say so and nothing more.
I don't have to look or act like one therefore.

My state takes your old ID, period... Unless you say you lost it.

I haven't changed my marker yet, but in my state if you wish to keep an old ID, they take this device and punch a shaped hole thru the ID denoting it as invalid, I don't see why it wouldn't be the same elsewhere. I still have my old one from when our photos were color even.

The one thing is though, states tend to vary dramatically on policy, so I dunno how normal this is.

The state where I live did something similar last time I renewed - they cut one of the corners off to mark the ID as invalid.

Depends on what state you live in. I live in California and they simply punched a hole in my old license to signify that it was invalid and handed it back to me. I keep it locked up in my safe.

In the states where I've received a new license in the past, New Hampshire and Massachusetts --- they make you surrender the old one, so you can only have one at any given time.
