I don't work on cars as much as I used to due to time, not being transgender. But I still do minor things to them except for oil changes because it's a pain to get rid of waste oil in NJ. I do minor appliance repair in the house (had to replace the rollers on our LG dryer last month) and still build computers.

I love nail polish, but I'm just too rough on fingernails. However, I keep my toes painted pretty much all year long and love it :)
working on washers and dryers are like what came first ..back side /top/ a puzzle but do able .I am wrench for my living and sneak finger nail polish sometimes .wearing gloves dont save the finish . Yes my nails are nice blue and my wife wrote Sara on one and smile face on other .Thanks for your post .AKA Sara

I know a woman, born woman (in case anyone wonders), all of 5'3" tall and maybe 100 pounds soaking wet, but a born grease monkey. She bought a crashed Lamborghini countach (a real one) at an auction. Most people wouldn't take on a project like this let alone see the value in it, but she did and over the course of 10 years restored the car to factory new. So when she shows up at a car show most people think this little skinny blonde chick married the right guy and won the car in a divorce, but it isn't the case. It was a case of a woman who saw a pile of junk and could see the beauty inside.

I love cars myself, I own 4 of them. My current driving favorite is my 2014 stingray convertible (if it would ever warm up in the northeast).
A fact that girls are more consistent and anal about fit and finish in there projects ..My hardest car restore was 1923 pierce arrow .When you start with pile of bent part and work your magic on it .Bring it alive it gets a soul and personality that some people will not understand .(i have named number of my own cars .and they are some nice and other pain in ass ) Just like the living .Stingray dang im 2013 mustang girl ..Oh well i wiil eat your dust but be smiling anyway.. Oh gawd, I HATE working on cars.  It's dirty and I basically suck at it.  Every time my wife had car problems and tried to make me deal with it, it was like, "Just beacuse I have a penis, it doesn't make me know about car problems.  Call a mechanic." Like I can wave my magic wand (so to speak) and magically fix it?

I do, however, know about home repairs.  I suck at plumbing (yes, I'll be needing more buckets and towels, please) but I did do a complete kitchen remodel two years ago.  I used to be an apartment manager in college, so I did a lot of repairs then.

I also used to be a guitar tech/luthier and can turn a pile of wood into a musical instrument.  I also fix and modify amplifiers, and was once the USA's Hiwatt amp tech.

I basically have a garage full of tools that I use all the time.  Old habits die hard, I guess.
Just the stuff keeping cars going is kind of boring but it necessary evil .I can say everything i have put my mind on i can do ..BUT learn to play guitar .....what the hel.... my finger are dumb on this stuff .if i could play a rip on the thing i would run around like crazy girl ... Hey have great day and play stair way to heaven for me .AKA Sara

Car restoration is one of my favorite things. Currently restoring '68 Firebird. It's a rolling shell right now and I'm cutting out the cancer/rust and welding in New metal. My favorite restoration though was a 1969 mustang gt, 302, red with black interior. So wish I hadn't sold it, but it paid for a whole years tuition for college.
I've also built all of my desktop computers since 1996.
I've recently moved and my shop is in a complete shambles still.

I did not really spend alot of time turning on muscle cars, my time went to restoring old Army trucks, and building off road rigs.  I have Pinzgauer 712, My ex and I rebuilt matching Uminog 404s, as well as countless American duece and a halfs.  Now I spend all of my time working on and rebuilding boats and yachts.  I was a engineer in the Coast Guard for 13 years before starting my new life.  Fuel oil runs in my veins.
My living is still made by getting dirt under my nails.  I dont mind, my friends wife has made a family rule that if I am wearing a skirt or something feminine I am not allowed to touch any tools.  I really like the rule!!

Sweet.  I've always wanted to do a frame-off restore of an M38...

I have a fetish for odd small truck/SUV/Jeepish (but not actual Jeeps, that would be to normal) things.

I'm getting ready to overhaul a chrysler 318ci engine on a 1999 dodge ram 1500 p/u, along with its transmission. I'm a school trained mechanic,  and also do fixing around my home. I also got a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse GT, that I need overhauling, its engine and transaxle, but first the p/u, for utilitarian reasons. Funny I work in a totally different area for a living, the legal field. I just sit all day and type, do legal work on cases, I'm also a paralegal :)

In my previous life I built a 33ft steel sailboat, designed, built and programmed a 6m x 2m CNC plasma cutting table/CNC router, Designed PCBs and a whole lot of other projects. I can MIG, TIG and Stick weld pretty much anything and I'm handy with mills, lathes and most powertools.

My father was a mechanic and, being the oldest, I saw far too much of the inside of a garage. I HATED getting dirty and I HATED cars. I liked mechanical things and had a talent for it but was far too girly to indulge in such pursuits. I was far more into sewing and the fabric arts.

Long after transition (decades!) and being fully integrated into woman's life, I began to realize I had some talent and knowledge in certain mechanical areas that was quite rare (for either gender) and began branching out into these areas. Now, in my senior years and being recognized in these areas I am even asked to teach others.

I STILL don't like getting dirty but I DO like passing on the skills and knowledge. (And I still like sewing LOL!)

Just thought I'd add that my step-mum is a mechanic who seems to have an encyclopedic knowledge of anything car related. I don't know a thing about cars myself. I've never even owned one, but I love listening to her talk about them. You can hear the passion when she does. Probably how I sound when I talk about electronics. She also comes home every day with her hands stained with oil and has to clean them up with Gojo (that stuff smells really good, btw). No way nail polish would last on her, hehe~

I LOVE bikes always have and always will I'm more to the super-class side so speed just drives me insane! And not to forget custom made exhaust pipes! GAH! The sounds they make gives me eargasms! I have a bike its only a 500cc but it shall suffice.. for now that is... My uncle so called "borrowed" the bike to me but I kinda made it mine-ish and hes let me keep it anyways as long as I look after it. And boy I sure do! Having plans on having an akropovic exhaust installed soon so neighbors I highly recommend grade A earmuffs! Ill be getting my license in a few months so after that ill be hitting the freeway for a "test run" well not immediately maybe after a few months on obtaining my license. And I do work on my bike.. currently I'm getting a quick shifter installed for my two stroke 500cc v4 powered rd500r (YAMAHA) with the quick shifter installed it would drop gear shifts by 1.9 seconds from the first to the third gear after that I can shift up to five and six as easily without losing speed. Don't ask me anything about cars tho I don't know jack about them. Now... time to get messy and I'm probably gonna need a bath.. again..

I'm quite tall so I use it to my advantage and ride my yamaha 1200 cc super tenere almost every day. :) There hasn't been a day so bad in my life that a few turns in the hills around here won't cure. It's my sanity machine for sure...
Blessings,

I did some time as an aircraft mechanic for the Boeing C-17.  I really liked the job but I wasn't "grunt" enough for the pace required.  If I could have been allowed to take my time, however, I think I would have "loved" it instead of "liked" it.  The humming of the actuators, the pumping of the hydraulic lines, the hissing of the engines, the "tick tick tick pop" of the torquewrench, watching the girl touch down on the very landing gear you put on her...oh...but those days are behind me now hahahaha.
