hi

I'm on hormones since 2009 im 23 years old now mtf pre-op
i was on anti androgen called androcur for the last years before i switch off to spironolactone
when i was on the androcur i never have any wet dreams or male erections but when i switch to spironolactone i start to have them
and increase of sexual desire
the dose i take from spiro equal the same dose i used to take from androcur (cyproterone acetate )
i wonder is this normal or that mean my T return to high levels ?

thanks

( im very aware of the important of doctors and work labs when taking hrt to transition but i'm in transphobic and homophobic country where transition and being transgender is illegal and can be punished by time in jail and up to death there is no doctors here are willing to help us with hrt or the Papers i'm on self - medication )

I'm sorry to hear your country is so oppressive and has placed you in such a dangerous situation - both in terms of your freedom and health. Spiro and Androcur may both have anti-androgenic properties but they are different drugs and will effect your physiology differently - the same dose of one is definitely not in anyway the same as the other. Discussion of self-medication is not allowed on this site, and besides, as I'm not a doctor I couldn't begin to guess at why you're now responding differently. Personally, I had some limited sexual function when I was in Androcur but have none on Spiro. Are there no organisations or doctors that operate below the radar for trans people in your country?

no there is non and there is no rights for all of the lgbt

i understand I dont wanna open discussion about self-medication therefore i didnt write the doses or ask anything about doses of drug i only wrote the names becuase i was worried about the lately changes that happened with me so i post here to see if other girls had the same things with changing drugs and if this normal to happen or not :)

and if its normal for transgirls to have wet dreams or erection with hrt in general because as far as i know most girls dont have them

Given they are different medications there might be some readjustment period. I've seen some people on this forum referring to still having various degrees of sexual function despite being on HRT.

Perhaps you can travel to another country for treatment?

While cis women don't have erections (obviously), they do have "wet" erotic dreams.

Testosterone (or the lack there of) isn't the only factor in sex drive.

I'm post-op and still have wet dreams, more so than when I was a "guy". As far as I'm concerned, sex drive isn't a bad thing at all, I would hate to have none at all.
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

On HRT since early 2004
Post-op since late 2005

It could be that your t levels rose but if there is no change in the rest of your body and it's only a genital-centric phenomena then that may not be what's going on.

Sometimes switching medicine can mean that certain areas become affected more (or less) than others. For example tamoxifen is an anti-estrogen which mainly affects the breast region, while there are others that affect other parts or the entire body. It stands to reason that antiandrogens could similarly vary in their specific effects for each person.

If your estrogens have also changed to include more progesterone then what you're feeling as far as sexual desire is likely the result of that female hormone. I know many ciswomen have little or no libido if they're only taking an estrogen as birth control (suppressing their body's natural hormones) and then if they switch to progesterone or a medicine which contains both, suddenly they can become very physically passionate.
Was falsely diagnosed as a female-to-male transsexual.
I'm just a cisgender female picking up the pieces.

I think you should not condemn wet dreams. Iknow pre op they are not really so great, mostly because of the way erections show pre op. but post op you will also have wet dreams and erections (arousal with some parts of your genitals swelling up).  Its quite normal for any woman. women also can ejaculate. its not that much different overall from men but the shape is different and that is something to be adressed by GRS. libido seems to generally be a little less agressive with HT if testosterone drops. I experienced it as me being able to give in to a libido feeling or not do it. what ever i liked. So I guess the question is - do you really have such a great issue with libido? Will you do GRS anytime soon or is the present state long term?
