Hello everyone,

I am a new user on this website but I have found it so useful for helping me through my transition so far. I am 19 years old living in the UK and I started hormones about 5 days ago! I am seriously excited to see the effects, I'm just trying to stop myself from getting carried away with what is actually changing at the moment and what is just in my head  : :p

I was particularly scared to start my transition due to my extreme height (and I mean extreme! I guarantee I am the tallest trans woman you will have heard of) I am 6 foot 7 inches tall! I'm hoping that starting my journey at my young age will help me somewhat, I have never been very masculine, I have never been able to grow facial hair and I grow very little body hair. My voice didn't begin to break until I was 16! So with any luck, these hormones will catch me at a good point  :D

Anyways, enough of the rambling, my name is Elizabeth and I am delighted to finally be a member of this community! :)

A big warm welcome to the family Elizabeth! :) You have found a very special place and very soon you will see it really is a family. Like all families we have our moments of drama, but when the chips are down and someone needs help all the drama goes away. You will always find someone here to talk to at anytime. Feel free to rant, vent, share good news (we like that a LOT), learn or just have some fun and meet the rest of the family. Here is a BIG HUG  :icon_hug: to welcome you and make you feel right at home! :) You now have a sister across the pond in Oklahoma!

UK. YAY!!!!!! Awesome beans.

I have a few questions if ya don't mind. In the UK the NHS is suppose to help pay for some of the stuff right? Have you had to shell out large amounts of money for anything yet? Cause I've not really looked into the money side of stuff in transition from a UK point of view and want to be prepared as I should be starting a transition very soon.

And have ya tried presenting as a woman in public at all yet? Some lucky buggers do it and pass before even starting hormones!=0
But it's just one of the biggest things I'm excited and scared about. So if you've had a experience of presenting as a female in a public space or something I'd love to hear it.

Welcome Elizabeth. My cousin is tall, maybe almost as tall as you. I'm 5'11 and she towers over me.

Im from Australia but my psychiatrist was telling me in UK SRS is free though there is currently a 4 year waiting list. So it sounds like they have a very good system over there compared to other countries.
I will touch a 100 flowers and not pick one.

Wow! Thanks for the warm welcome  :D

I am very lucky to be living in the UK, anything classified as non-cosmetic is free (the appointments, the SRS etc) however, I do still have to pay for my hormones as I'm not on benefits and am 19 years old. But they only come to £8.50 a month, so it's quite reasonable  :)

You only really have to worry about cost for things like FFS or tracheal shavings etc. I'm just thankful that I could start this system for absolutely free while I was still 17! I don't know when I would have started otherwise! :)

When it comes to walking around, I am always dressed as a woman unless I am walking around my home town (too many ignorant people, really scary types!) but thankfully all of my work and play takes place in the much larger town over :) I'm not convincing yet, but with these hormones I hope to one day get there!

Hope these answers helped  ;D
